Having read reviews about the construction, I emailed the resort that I did not want a room on the construction side. I did not hear back from the resort when previous emails were promptly responded to, I was a bit concerned. When we arrived on a Thursday, we were concerned about the location of our room. Sure enough, we got a room on the construction side. They upgraded our room from a 1 bed/1bath suite to a 2 bed/2bath suite - assuring us the construction stops at 7pm (not true - they continued until 9pm). We accepted the room but was told if we wish to change we could on Saturday (lots of check outs). However, the resort was not full & I am sure we could have been moved to a different suite earlier. The suite was large and beautiful - nice to have the extra room - however, the construction noise was deafening. The workers whistled at anything that moved - including our 9 & 10 yo daughters. Eventhough we had the larger room, we chose to change to a smaller room (but larger frig) on Saturday - our new room had a gorgeous view of the koi ponds, pool, & ocean. We were much happier with the location. The staff was very accomodating and helped us move. 2 complaints though about our rooms - the beds in both suites were very hard and the suite we moved to had a slight smell to it - I can only describe it as a smell that comes from humidity (having been raised in New Orleans).
The property is beautiful with lots of tropical plants, koi pond & stream and beautiful pool. We even saw 2 iguanas (one very large). The pond had 2 turtles and lots of fish. We enjoyed the pool everyday. They did not play any music during the day except when announcing an activity (ie volleyball, water aerobics). The poolside bar closed at 6pm & drinks were very expensive ($8.50 for a daquire!) Room service was quick & food was average.
We were asked upon arrive to attend a timeshare presentation & we declined. We were asked one more time but again declined & we were not bothered about it again.
The beach is adjacent to the resort with a few vendors walking around - certainly not as many as our home resort in Cabo. Our girls had a great time bogey boarding in the surf. The parasailing, jetskis, and banana boat activities are right there on the beach. If you want to horseback ride, they come along the beach with horses that you can ride.
The mega grocery store is a 25 minute walk away. Buceries is also about a 25 minute walk with restaurants and an outdoor market.
The resort is pretty far away from PV - it was a 35 minute taxi ride to PV at a cost of $20 each way. If you like quiet and no party atmosphere - this would be the place.
