“Very nice vacation”

We just got back. I can say that this property is in a very nice location. Close to down town and to the marina.
There is a new resturant that just open across the street. Really good food and cheap. Next to the OXOX.
The people at the resort will do anything for you. The activities are great for the kids and the food is good to. We were in the building next to the pool which was nice to see the cruise ships come in and leave at night. Aslo seeing the fireworks go off at night was like having 4th of July every night. I have nothing to say but positive things. We also do the zip lines which was fun and we also did the last day of the whale watching tour.
I would suggest enjoy your self and get to know the people and the locals around the area. They know where to eat!

“Got married here and loved it”

Mayan Palace Puerto Vallarta

Mar 29, 2008

I got married here in May 2007. My guests mainly stayed at the nearby Marriott because we wanted to keep the guests away from the ceremony and reception sites until the wedding. I did have three couples stay here, because the Marriott was booked about a month prior to the trip. My husband and I also stayed here as part of our honeymoon.

We were very happy with the hotel. It is beautiful and if you like modern Mayan inspired architecture then you will appreciate it here. It is really very lovely. Our honeymoon suite was on the top floor of the tower that is closest to the ocean and it was amazing. It was very large and had high ceilings. This is definitely the type of hotel that the photos online do not do it justice, so you will be pleasantly surprised when you arrive.

The food at this hotel is wonderful. We enjoyed the Sunday brunch and breakfast here very much. Our wedding food was good and very well presented.

The wedding guests that stayed here were all very pleased as well. Also I was not approached by any timeshare people. Maybe it was because they might have known I got married there? But nor were any of our other friends that stayed here.

The location is also great. The Marina is a short cab ride to downtown. You can walk around the Marina for some shops and restaurants. Try to make it to the lighthouse for drinks at sunset. There are many tours that pick up or depart from the Marina, so there is a lot to do. The beach here is not as pretty as the beach on the south side of PV, so please do not stay here if you plan to sit on the beach all day. It is more for pool lovers. But if you stay here you can certainly plan a trip to Yelapa and enjoy a long day at the beach there, where the water is amazing. After visiting Yelapa, it will always be a must do on my trips to PV! Also, try to stop at Le Kliff restaurant which is also south of town. It has an amazing view and good food.

The one problem I had with the hotel was that the AC never fully cooled the room. Other than that, we were absolutely happy with everything.

ps. if you are planning a wedding here, go with an outside WC, I used Prisar Vallarta who were amazing!!!

“"Buy a time-share" harrasment!! Never come back!!”

Mayan Palace Puerto Vallarta

We exchanged a RCI timeshare to Mayan Palace Puerto Vallarta. People at the front desk asked us to have a "welcome breakfast" in order to get the information of the resort (like activities schedules, etc.).

Of course this was a lie. The guy who was in charge of us didn't mention a word about the activities or the schedule. Instead he asked me, besides other questions, how much money I make a year!!!!!!

Are they nuts or what!. I didn´t asked for that breakfast. I already have a timeshare. I don't go to a resort to be harrased by a bunch of salesmen which push me to the limit asking me "why I don't want to buy a US$30,000 timeshare from them". Jajaja.

Nasty, ugly and a lot of stress!!!!

Go where the staff at the resort consider you as a vacationist, a guest, a friend.... and not a target!!!.

“Nice Vacation at the Mayan Palace”

Mayan Palace Puerto Vallarta

4 of 5 stars
Yakima, Washington

We just returned from a week in Puerto Vallarta at the Mayan Palace. Our room (1 bedroom suite) was on the third floor of the main building. While we didn't have an ocean view, we did have a nice view of the marina as well as a full balcony. Our room was nice and was definitely large enough for the four of us (three adults and one child). The grounds were beautiful and well kept, and the pools were clean and warm. The beach was nice and my daughter had a wonderful time playing in the surf and sand. The staff was friendly and accomodating. On one occasion, we booked a city tour and the reservations got mixed up (we booked it outside the hotel). The Mayan Place staff went out of their way to help us so we could join the tour. We were impressed and grateful. Housekeeping also did a fine job cleaning the room. We found it helps to know a little Spanish as most of the housekeeping staff know minimal English. I was most concerned about the time share sharks and thought they'd be everywhere. Fortunately, there was no need to worry. They are stationed here and there around the hotel, but we simply said, "No gracias" and that was that. Same with the vendors on the beach. The majority of the the people there at the same time as us were the over 60 crowd. That didn't bother us because we weren't looking for the Mayan Party Palace. Some spring breakers were showing up as we left, but we had no problems with them at all. You could hear music and partying going on over at the marina if you were on the balcony, but once you went inside, it was fine. The only downside we found was that nothing is complimentary at the Mayan Palace (except the little basket of shampoo
/lotion/miscellaneous items in the bathroom). We belong to another timeshare and there are many complimentary services included so this was a disappointment. Believe me, anything extra will cost you something. Also, the living room furniture could stand an update (or cleaning at the least), but these were minor issues to us. We really enjoyed the time we spent in Puerto Vallarta and the Mayan Palace!

“We will return...”

Mayan Palace Puerto Vallarta

We own a one week master suite with the Mayan Palace and after hassling for a couple of years with RCI, we decided to stick with the Mayan Group for our trips. We love Mexico which is why we bought in the first place.
Last year was our first time in PV and we stayed at the Mayan Marina. Every review you've read about it is true.. there are some definite pluses... closer to town, a quick bus ride to anywhere, the Marina dining.. the best.. and the resort itself is much quieter than the Mayan Nuevo Vallarta. We were totally unimpressed with the food... but with the Marina right next door, we loved each minute of our week. Definitely not a place to take small kids or teens as there is simply not enough to keep them entertained. and because it is older, the rooms simply lack all the advantage of Nuevo Vallarta... but it will always be our first choice for the positive reasons above.
This year, we stayed at Nuevo... we were worried that we would be far out of town (we were).. but the taxis are price regulated and there was never a lag time in waiting for one. The food at this resort is wonderful. (our biggest worry after staying at the Marina).. Great selection if you avoid the nightly buffet events (not our style)... Fabulous selection of sea food at one restaurant (name escapes me) on the beach.. great sunsets and the prices were what you would expect. We also spent one evening in the Rogue Bar with a wonderful cheese platter and salads with wine... The Green Break restaurant on the golf course is fabulous... try their rib eye tacos... the appetizer side of guacamole is HUGE.. very generous portions. but avoid the hamburgers... big, but not tasty according to our husbands.
Our 2 bedroom suite was lovely... well appointed in the kitchen and living room.. very comfortable for 2 traveling couples (yes, we are in our 60's)... maid service was excellent and the general attitude of the staff is first rate. We had an ocean view room that was above the lobby bar.. Nightly entertainment floated through our patio doors each night.. some good, some not, but it was fun to go to sleep being seranaded by a great trumpet player.
The pool area is splendid... we avoided the entertainment area which was loaded with teenagers.. they have wonderful activities for those of you who want to engage in it... Yoga on the beach, beach volleyball, etc... we were content to enjoy the sun, the view and our books.
We will return again and again... we could care less about what a lobby looks like.. are more interested in the overall atmosphere and quality of service at any resort we stay in. And for the record, the 4 of us have spent more time in hotels in our careers than in our own homes...
