This was my first trip to PV and to the Vallarta Torre. My co-worker is a VI owner and I went along with her for close to a week. The one bedroom was just as pictured in a couple of the sites I found re: the VT timeshare. It was clean, homey, and relaxing. There are fans in the living room and bedroom, but the air conditioning was also available (we didn't use it much). The kitchen was well stocked with appliances and dishes though we really didn't cook much. My bed was hard, it pained my hip after a few days. The clientele at the hotel do seem older (we're in our 50s and fit right in), but I suspect 20- to 30-somethings would find it perhaps too dull. Not many swam (lots read books by the pool), and the happy hour at the bar was certainly a good spot to hang out. So was the beach which was a few steps away. You'll find lots of beach vendors trying to sell their wares here, just be polite and they won't bother you.

I appreciated the security at both the front and the beach side of the site. There is a small restaurant that doesn't have a large selection to choose from, but we found it reasonably priced and the nachos, guacamole, enchiladas, and shrimp very tasty. The large hotel next door on the north side (Crown Paradise Club?) played very loud music at various times, and occasionally set off fireworks at 9:00 p.m., which I loved. Try to get a room above the 2nd floor; the higher up, the better view of the ocean.

Though the Vallarta Torre is smaller and appears older, the staff strive to keep it clean. Every morning they scrubbed the front cobblestone area, swept all walkways, manicured the palm trees and shrubbery, and did a great job of answering any questions or concerns we had about the area. About a block away is a new Soriana grocery store, and onsite is a small coffee shop which used to be a small store, apparently. A few blocks away is the marina terminal area where the cruise ships dock, and where a small flea market area sells more "stuff" than you can imagine. It's easy to catch a bus by Sorianas, just hop on and hang on! Though I enjoyed this area and hotel, if I were to return to PV, I'd like to try a small condo on the south side of town for a more "local" feel, and hopefully not be so close to the other hotels/tourists.

My daugter and I spent two weeks at the Vallarta Torre in March of 2007. We booked our stay through Trendwest / Worldmark and fell in love with the place and the staff. Everything was very clean and we had no trouble getting linens or altering our cleaning schedule. There is a excellent out door restaurant on the ocean side of the resort that usually has live entertainment at supper time, and a small store at the front of the property for sodas and snacks and such.
When my daughter got stung by something on the beach the staff could not have been more helpful or concerned. A day later when the sting became infected they helped us find an excellent doctor who spoke English. I have never felt so well cared for as I did staying at the Vallarta Torre.
The Marina is only about a block down the street. There is a large grocery, Sorrianna's, less than a block away. You can catch the bus into town there at Sorrianna's also.
If you like warm and friendly staff along with a warm, cozy and traditionally styled environment you will love the Vallarta Torre.

“Needs a renovation”

Vallarta Torre

This place is just very old and very basic. No room service, very infrequent maid service, every few days. We ran out of clean towels and had a hard time getting new ones before their scheduled cleaning days. No de-humidifer, like in some other Puerto Vallarta hotels. The humidity was constant. The bathroom was dank, smelled weird and had a gross shower curtain that needed to be replaced. No bathtiub.
We were pressured into a breakfast meeting and went thinking they'd try to sell us something breifly then go away instead the women sat with us throughout our whole breakfast until we left.

The beach was ugly, brown water (not their fault I know) but you'd think they could do something about the constant harassment from literally dozens of vendors walking the beach. It was ridiculous.

Nothing very luxurious to say the least, but I guess it was barely tolerable, until 3 days into our stay some smokers moved in next door. The smoke smell was unbearable. We complained several times and it still went on. And so we left and spent the remainder of our holiday at the Westin, which was beautiful and I highly recommend.
I will say all the people were very friendly and seemed to try, but I still suggest staying at a real hotel, not some old time-share. property.

“Awesome Place/Amazing Turtle Habitat”

Vallarta Torre

5 of 5 stars

Vallarta Torre is a great place to stay. It is smaller and a little older than many of the area's resorts, and yet the overall experience has been excellent. The grounds are beautifully maintained. The swimming pool is steps away from the beach and the hotel is just down the block from the marina. The bus can be caught at the end of the street. Very safe area and the hotel sits around the corner from a new grocery store that has everything needed. We had a few things with the condo that initially needed to be fixed but with such a fabulous view of the ocean and gracious, hospitable staff, our stay has been very comfortable.

Everything is very clean. There is a tiny restaurant onsite and a great place just off to the side o the pool where people enjoy drinks while overlooking the ocean and sunset. The staff really work hard at keeping everything running just right.

There is free wi-fi available outside in the front courtyard for those who need internet access.

For those who really love hand-carved wood crafts, there is a young man by the name of Reuben Hermanez who visits the beach in the evenings. He does not work with the other beach vendors that are often seen. We bought two pieces from him that are just beautiful, and personally made by him. He was very genuine and really seems to enjoy his work as an artist. He learned this special craft by his father, uncle, and grandfather, and seems to take great pride and interest in his special creations. If you want to see his beautiful work, when on the beach, just ask for "Reuban"! :-)

Another really neat thing about Torre Vallarta... they participate in an effort to help save and preserve sea turtles. Many evenings at 7:30pm, their security staff will bring out hundreds of baby turtles (they have a special habitat where they protect turtle eggs until they are hatched) ... which they release into the surf at sunset. Hotel guests are invited to participate and enjoy in this special natural wonder of watching (and helping!) so many hatchlings run by instinct toward the ocean's call while allowing themselves to be swept away into the sea! (magnicant!)

Yes, Torre Vallarta is a very special place..... we certainly do hope to return!

“loved this little resort”

we stayed at vallarta torre from august 3-10, 2007 and absolutely loved it. there was 6 of us in a 2 bedroom unit on the first floor. this made it so much easier to just be able to walk out to the pool and beach out the sliding door instead of going up and down the stairs like others had to. the room itself was nicely appointed and roomy. there was a king size bed with a seperate shower and bathroom in the master bedroom and 2 full beds in the other room. there was also a queen sized wall bed in the living room. there was a tv with a dvd player. you could rent dvd's at the front desk for about 2-3 dollars each. we ate at the restaraunt twice and it was good both times. not that huge of a selection but it hit the spot. the pool was nice and the palapa bar made it that much better. the bartenders were great, especially guillermo (willie to the gringos haha). happy hour at the bar was daily from 5-7...2x1 drinks....taxis were easily attainable from the resort and was generally 50 pesos (approximately $5) to get to the malecon....august is part of the rainy season in puerto vallarta and thunderstorms occur almost daily but dont let this discourage you....although it did rain 5-6 days of the week that we were there it usually lasted only about and an hour and it was nice becuase it took away alot of the humidity....the resort was not big at all but that is what made it nice....there is a loud resort next door where they play music all day at the pool...it was nice for us because we were able to enjoy the music as well....the resort is about a 5-10 minute drive from the airport...they have some price setting in getting a ride from the airport to your resort that made it alot more to get to your resort than it was from getting from the resort to the airport...it was a $40 van ride to the resort (for all 6 of us) and it was just a $5 ride from the resort to the airport...big difference....i cant wait to go back...the malecon downtown was nice...especially at night were there is alot of people walking up and down it...and i will definitely be staying at vallarta torre again...
