We loved the hotel we were in the grand side...all was great!!! the staff was awsome...would go again...was clean etc....great distance from town...all was good...
Well, it is what it is... the pools were plentiful and clean!!!!!! Initially I was a little spooked by the pool in Section1 as it was full of litlte kids in diapers and a few drunken rowdies... went for a walk found 3 other pools and enjoyed all of them. The adult pool was secluded and was a great hide away in the afternoon when the relentless boom boom boom of the looped music got to be too much, I usually had it to myself or maybe another couple, met some great people there. I found all of the staff friendly and helpful, sometimes you have to smile and say Hola first, makes you approachable. Ah the food ......Woman can only live on yogurt and pineapple so long, it all started to taste the same after day 2. I would suggest breakfast@ the buffet, burgers @ the snack bar and out for supper. Try to eat Mexican, we travel to experience different things so step out of your comfort zone!!!! Beds like bricks! Stop at Wallymart and get a mattress topper if it is an issue. All in all met some great people and had a holday. life ain't all bad. Have paid the same amount of money for an all inclusive on the Mayan and it was a nicer facility but it was also newly opened so I think it was a deal. Did PV a lifetime ago and lam thinkin twice is enough.
I had seen some negative reviews for this place on this site but it we got such a good deal from bookit.com we thought "what the hey". Also some of the complaints people had about this place seem to be of the "I didn't follow directions so now I'm annoyed" or "I didn't pay attention when booking" variety as well.
You definitely have to pay attention when you book here because it would be easy to book "club" level instead of "grand" based just on room descriptions. "Grand" is not only a room designation (semi-ocean front, a quieter complex) but is the higher of the two as far as level of services included in the all-inclusive package. For around $10 extra per person per night, "grand" gives you the specialty restaurants and better liquor (not "well" brands) although not quite the top shelf which is reserved for the time share folks. Club (cheaper) gets you in the phase 1 hotel surrounding a pool and a short walk from the ocean as well as a more limited palette of services, food, etc.
All that being said I thought the service was solid to very good. The staff was friendly and attentive although the promised wait service at poolside was for the most part non-existent, if you wanted a drink, 9 times out of 10, you went to the bar and ordered it, no big deal. The food at the specialty restaurants was surprisingly good and the breakfast buffet had made to order omelettes which made up for some of the buffet's shortcomings. Decent burgers, dogs and other quickie lunch fare was available pool side. This resort is a little on the older side and is not a high rise modern hotel by any means. It more quaint and "older" Mexico. For the price, my wife and I were very satisfied and wouldn't hesitate to return someday if we get another good deal.
One very important point; I hate getting constantly pitched to join the time share. The hard sell drives me up the wall as I didn't pay to come to hear a sales pitch. I was asked to come to the time share presentation exactly twice here; once when checking in and once when they called me to ask if everything was ok the first morning there and each time it was a polite and non-pressured request. It was very nice not to be hounded on an all inclusive vacation for a change!

ServiceI was pleasantly suprised by how great this resort was. We booked based on price & weather & when we read the reviews weren't really sure what we would get. We were in the club section & the rooms were spotless, beds good, food was tasty as well. We liked the pool in Section 1 for the warmth, but used the adults only pool a number of times & the hot tub. Only used the Section 2 pool once. It was much more crowded, but enjoyed the beach view & cool breezes. The snack bars had great food & the buffets for the International nite were exceptionally good. The al a carte restaurants were quite good as well. The nightly entertainment was most enjoyable. So all in all the whole vacation was most enjoyable & I would recommend it. Definately good value for the money.

Service
Business serviceWe checked into Room 126 April 11th for the weekend...nice grounds, below average food, disgusting Sushi food ..saty away. Now my complaint....Check out was 11 a.m on April 13th, I asked them to store a piece of luggage as our flight back to Mexico City was at 5.40 p.m.. Now they issue you a white plastic bracelet to identify you as all inclusive when you check in. After check out my obligations to the hotel and their obligation to me cease. Later in the afternoon I discarded my bracelet as it was around 3 p.m. BUT on returning to pick up my luggage they demand $500 pesos for not returning the bracelet...no ticky no laundry...I had no choice, or loose my luggage. No receipt was issued, so obviously went into the front desk rip off fund...This is disgraceful, and I will report to Fonatur, the Tourism ministry...I would appreciate a management response to this action
