I stayed at this hotel with my 18 year old daughter and we had a blast. Only downfall is that air conditioning didn't work in our room. Although I told them at the front desk it never got fixed during our 1 week stay. But that is minor. Oh and my daughter did have $100 peso bill go missing ($10) that is the first time I have ever had a problem we didn't report it though. Our room was older but very clean. We had an ocean front, one single and one queen bed. Our vacation pkg came with breakfast which of course wasn't the best selection. Not that the food was bad it was great, but although they have a menu to order other things if you are paying the free breakfast menu has 4 things on it. Cornflakes, fresh fruit and toast, eggs/toast (the don't tell you on the menu but it comes with bacon or ham) or refried beans and cheese with chips. Of course juice, tea or coffee. So yes this could get boring but it tasted fine and it was free. We managed just fine. They have a turtle pond which we just loved and were there several times a day, sometimes rescuing the ones that get away and after we found out they could eat ham, we ordered ham and eggs almost everyday and saved the ham for the turtles which would swim right to you so we could feed them. The hotel staff was very pleasant and socialable, served us our drinks on the beach. Everyday just to the left of where the palapas are on the beach for this hotel was a group of Mexicans that set up grills and sold mahi mahi and grilled shrimp on a stick for $2.50 (The Mahi Mahi was so good, but get it while it's hot)plus fresh fruit cleaned and cut up in cups for another $2. The hotel only charges $60 pesos($6) for a bucket of 5 Corona. So we could have a free breakfast, pick out spot under a palapa have a cheap lunch of fish and fruit, drink beer and then we would go out for a nice supper. Try the Tropicana Special while there (a alcholic beverage, very yummy) They also have 1/2 price happy hour I think it was from 6 to 7pm. Everything I had was great. While in Mexico have Mexican food you can't go wrong. Don't order Caesar salad and expect it to be like it is at home. Unlike the person that wrote in the review that she felt sorry for the turtles that their pond was filthy, not true, the water is kinda green but we saw them drain and scrub the rocks twice while we were there. I would definitely stay here again. I loved the location I have been to PV 4 times and I have always stayed in the bigger resorts in the hotel zone, but never again. I loved being in old town it was walking distance to everything. There is so many restaurants to chose from. Andeles was awesome, Burger Paradise on the Malecon(my daughter picked that restaurant on her birthday I am more into the Mexican style restaurants) but it was one of the best burgers I had every ate. Bubba Gumps nice, but pricey. Las Palmeros was good too. I would definitley recommend the tour to Las Caletas day or night trip. I have been there for the evening show before and twice during the day, which I perfer it is so beautiful and they have a bird and monkey sanctuary. Oh yeah and go to Cafe Roma by the flea market(go to the flea market too). Food is good, cheap, Margarita's were awesome. Owned by a former Canadian guy names "Fox" had a nice conversation with him about Mexico and the servers there are very charming! The bar on the Malecon called The Zoo was fun too, drinks are reasonable. Went to the HiLo too, but you pay just like you would at home for a drink. Yes there is lots of vendors which drive some people crazy, but if you aren't interested just say no. But alot will stop and chat with you and you get to know quite a bit of info on them, Mexico. . . Oh yeah and I can't forget Estevan, he was a real sweetie pie. My daughter went parasailing and he was one of the guys on the beach that was helping with that. But she did that on the 2nd day and he always came over to talk or wave hello after that. Also they remember faces like you wouldn't believe. If you buy something from one of them they will remember your name and what you bought. One time when I was there with my 2 sisters and my Mom, myself and one sister were looking for the other sister and Mom and they took us right to them although we didn't know them, they remembered us and knew exactly who we were looking for. Mexico is a great place to holiday, it's a cheap tropical vacation, the people are so wonderful. I would definitely stay at this hotel again and I would also recommend it to anyone, unless you are the type that loves huge fancy resorts with no plans to leave it and don't plan on walking or experiencing Mexico (how boring) than this may not be the one for you. Oh yeah the pool was smaller than most hotels I have been too, but perfectly fine!
