Let me start by saying I knew exactly which one of the three Los Arcos Brand hotels in Puerto Vallarta I wanted to stay at. After research and reading reviews, I chose Los Arcos Suites because I wanted something that was a little quieter. I didn't care that it wasn't right on the beach or didn't have a restaurant (like one of their other properties, Playa Los Arcos).

When I got to Los Arcos Suites (with my confirmation for THIS hotel in hand) which I had booked on their website and which I had confirmed via email, they told me that they had a room for me, but at Playa Los Arcos. When I explained that I didn't want that hotel, but the one I had booked, they checked availability, relented and gave me a room at Los Arcos Suites. So, lesson 1 -check, recheck and re-confirm if it's important that you stay at a particular one of the Los Arcos Properties. They all seem nice and are only within a block or so of each other, but if you desire certain amenities, (the suites have mini-kitchens) then I suggest you talk to a manager and make sure before arriving.

That was the only unpleasant part of my experience. Otherwise, the staff was incredibly friendly, gracious and accomodating. It's a nice atmosphere, has a mini kitchen, a TV that gets a few English language channels, it's walking distance to everything in Olas Altas and dowtown and I would definitely stay at one of their properties again. The maids came everyday and as long as you aren't very picky and don't look too closely, it's pretty clean.

Make sure you check out the happy hour specials at Playa Los Arcos restaurant/lounge across the way. It has views of the ocean and everyday from 1-3 and 6-8 they have 2 for 1 drinks!

First off, don't believe the negative comments about this place. They are not referring to the Los Arcos Suites. They are confused by the fact there are 2 other properties as well.
I booked my room through Hotwire, for $39 a night. The hotel is not on the beach...as it clearly states everywhere. It is only a quick 2 minute walk to the beach at the most...whoopi doo!! You can access the beach easily, and also use the facilities at the Playa Los Arcos...which is beachfront, and much more expensive...and actually the rooms are not as nice. BUT...it is on the beach...BUT only a very very few rooms actually face the beach.
The Suites...room was awesome, simply great. New looking, obviously recently redone. The shower (no bath) had lots of hot water and pressure. The toilet worked perfectly. The bed and pillows were very very comfortable. Coffee pot, 2 burner stove, toaster, mini fridge. All worked perfectly. As did the A/C. Room was cleaned everyday, and done very well. The pool area is nice, but doesn't get nearly the amount of sun as the other hotel (Playa) gets due to the surrounding buildings blocking the sun much to early in the day. Pool was clean and very comfortable tempature.
The staff was amazing, always helped with every little question I had...and I had plenty. I really loved the fact this hotel was situated where it was. So close to the beach...a very nice beach. Tons of shopping right there. It was located within a block of the best bar (my opinion and 65% of the locals as well) in all of PV.
I do not have one single negative thing to say about this place...I really don't know why someone would. The other comments you read about this place are obviously referring to possibly the older hotel across the street from the suites. That being the case, I can understand the negative reviews. The Los Arcos Suites is simply perfect in every way...highly recommended

I found out about this site from another irritated Los Arcos customer who said she was going to give a piece of her mind. This is the classic bait and switch. You get the awesome room online, and get there and its a dump. We had stains on the sheets and towels, and i killed one cockroach and trapped the second and took it as a gift to the front desk. they upcharge for everything, their pool towels are gross, and the staff is surly, and perfectly uwilling to accomodate you. I paid an additional $100 just to get a tolerable room, and was at the front desk yesterday and saw the same exact scenario happening with yet another guest. BUYER BEWARE!!!!

Being a bit of a snob when it comes to hotels, I found myself a little disappointed upon arrival at this hotel for a few reasons...

1) The picture this hotel advertises with makes you believe it is ON the beach. It is not. It is about 1.5-2 blocks inland. The real beachfront hotel is in fact another hotel, named Los Arcos Hotels.
2) The kitchen area and bathroom is very basic and dated.

In the end however, I felt that for the price this was an excellent choice. It was quiet whereas the Los Arcos Hotel that is right on the beach was quite loud. I know as I had to cross the busy street in the front and go through the noisy swimming pool area of it to get to the beach and to get my beach towel. At night the street in front of Los Arcos Hotel is packed with partiers.

Los Arcos Suites on the other hand is removed from heavy traffic and noise because it is is inland and because there are buildings between the rooms and the noisy areas to block the noise. I was able to sleep in every single day. While it could use a little updating to make it perfect, it is a good trade-off overall. It is also in a great location so it is quick walk to downtown, Rio Cuale, or to the less-hectic beaches in the south of the old town.
