Tesoro Ixtapa

We left from Vancouver with Air Canada and everything was perfect.
We arrived in Ixtapa on time and the bus ride to Tesoro Resort was very quick, nice cold Coronas fit well. My wife and I have been to many parts of Mexico usually staying at 5 stars but the price for Tesoro was worth exploring. I have to say over all the resort is what I would consider (good) for a 3 star. Remember you are coming to a 3 star resort so don't expect anything more. Our room was on the 7th floor and the view was outstanding, the rooms and the resort are very clean.
My wife and I are easy to please but I have to say the buffet isn't up our alley, strange looking mush mush that I couldn't really get my head around. You could always find something to eat but over all the first few nights I have to give it a 5 out of 10. We ended up going out for dinner for a few nights, you have to go to Franks. Its across the street and in the mall, great guy and he works hard to please his customers. Go get a massage on the beach, walk to the beach and turn right, go up a few resorts and there they are, ask for Abelina..........$30.00 for two for 1 hour..........they are good.
Ixtapa now is our favorite destination, we do like our 5 stars so we will return but dont get me wrong, the Tesoro is a very acceptable resort with hard working staff and amazing views of the pacific.

“Good Times!”

Tesoro Ixtapa

From the moment we got off the plane, we were taken care of. The bus shuttle to Tesoro was wonderful with a nice Corona in hand! Once arriving, checking in was a breeze and our hotel room was great! Typical for a resort: No carpeted floors, nice bed, large fridge (stocked w/ 4 pops, 2 beers and 2 waters daily), a lockable safe and an overall clean feeling. Our room had a balcony overlooking the ocean. Tipping the maids is recommended as they work extremely hard to keep the room clean (they got every bit of sand out on a daily basis) and made wonderful sculptures with towels and flowers!

The buffet was always in full effect in the restaurant from 6:30 AM - 10:30, 12:30 - 4:30 and 6:30 PM - 10:30 PM. Food was a good combination of Western and Mexican Cuisine. Obviously, like any all-inclusive, the food can become boring if you are a fine connoisseur of fine-foods, but as it's free and filling, one really cannot complain. Once again, the staff is engaging, friendly and prompt with their service. Lots of selection that one can seriously add 10 pounds to their waistline...

The pool area was nice, but if one does want a pool-side chair or area for their family or group for the day or even a few hours, it's recommended to get out there by 8:00 AM and place some piece of your belongings to reserve it. Most folks placed a towel down or a hat or something like that. The same can be said for the Tesora roped-off area on the beach as well. As always, the service pool-side and beach-side is great with many drinks flowing! The pool snack-bar was a nice change from having to go inside and eating lunch at the restaurant. Burgers, fries, hot dogs, seafood and tacos are all available and menu slightly varies on a daily basis. They also have music playing with local vendors selling necklaces and such. The staff encorporates volleyball and soccer on the beach as well as pool activiies like aquasize and water polo. It's a great resort for families and couples!

The waves are nice in the water, Good refreshing feeling to get "hit" by a wave. They have many lifeguards around to make sure you don't swim out too far and get in trouble. Recommended: Massages to the right when you exit the stairs from Tesoro pool to the beach. 200 pesos for one hour. They get their elbows deep and know how to give a massage!

Overall, it was a blast at the Tersoro. Like may reviewers have written, you are in Mexico, not in Miami, so please expect Mexicans, Spanish language, and an overall Mexican Vibe.

Tip: Pay the 860 pesos and go for the 20-minute Dolphin Excursion at the Delfiniti... (a 4 minute walk from Tesoro)

We spent a satisfying week at the Tesoro during Easter week .upon arrival (Sat the 15th)the resort was very busy with a lot of Mexican tourists.By Monday it was not quite as busy ,but it was packed again by Friday with lot of Mexican tourists (it is a big vacation week for Mexico) .The pool and beach area was busy and if you did not get down there early you might not get a lounger (beach chair ) although we managed to find some in a good location every day .Lots of friendly staff who were kept very busy delivering drinks /food around the pool and beach area. The resort could use a beach bar for those who don't want to go in the pool to get there drinks .The Margaritas/Daquaris?? were a little weak unless you asked for more alcohol in them (no problem ).The buffet always had lots of staff to serve drinks /clean tables /restock the buffet table.
The room was very nice and was kept clean and the fridge (full size ) was restocked daily ,we left $1US in the fridge a couple of times to ensure this as well as on the pillow ,we were left fresh flowers daily.
We had a coffee maker ,hot plate /dishes /cutlery in the cupboards. The bathroom was clean and everything worked fine . We had a good view of the ocean (west side of resort)The only negative was the exhaust fan/ air conditioning unit from the resort next door (The Park Royal) was humming all day &night.Great view of the sunset .
The beach was very nice to walk on ,very wide compared to other parts of Mexico . The water is not good for swimming but great if you like playing in the waves. The vendors on the beach are not hardcore and will simply walk away if you shake you head or say "no gracias".We tried the Para sailing (some call it "dope on a rope ")it was awesome, would do it again $25 .Lots of restaurants /bars /tequila stores /shops across the street.Bus to Zihuatanejo = 70 cents.Met some great people Hi Bruce &Doreen/Doug & Laurie/Sandy &Stacey GO FLAMES
Overall a good place to stay .Would not go at this time of the year again ,but would definitely stay here again.A visit to the Beer planet and Franks is a must .ENJOY

The hotel is a decent 3 star hotel. Interesting cause as well it has privatly owned suites, condo complex.
Food was decent and as I always say you get what you pay for & if you want great food stay home, lol.
The buffet for all 3 meals had something for everybody. Breakie had great fresh juices & fruits. The made to order station was manned for all 3 meals, theme nights for dinner each night.
Entertainment, well it is not Vegas but the staff work hard & did their best. Colorful & innovative.
Place is kept clean but needs TLC in repairs like bathrooms.

My wife and I and our three teenagers spent the week of Feb 2 -9 at Tesoro. We have absolutely no complaints, our entire stay was wonderful. The rooms were clean, the meals were great, the staff were friendly, what more could one ask for? I have read comments from other visitors that had issues. The drinks were too small? So what, go get another one. The staff spoke Spanish? Well, you're in Mexico, what did you expect? The chairs were too high? Good Lord, the things some people complain about. Anyway, the five of us spent a very special week at Tesoro and we would certainly go back again.
