Our experience was mixed. The suits and view are beautiful. The staff is extremely friendly. The biggest disappointment was they main restaurant. The food quality and service was poor.

In Hutalco this is the most expensive property. We chose it because the suites had private pools. We were shocked to find that our suite was not private. There were four other suites with pools that could look into ours and the public walk way ran alongside our terrace. Therefore, everybody passing by could see in. We asked to move and were shown other suites all varying in lack of privacy including the Presidential Suite and to our horror there were two suites on the side of it that looked into their huge pool and veranda. No privacy there either. Amazing that a hotel can charge these kind of rates and offers their guests no privacy. The food was inconsistent some meals better than others but not one that I would rave about. The saddest thing was that we did not speak Spanish. Communication with the staff was very hard. The only person with good English was the concierge and it was embarrassing to have to contact her on every small issue. It was obvious that they were trying very hard to make us happy but there was a major communication problem.

Loved the Quinta Real! Beautiful rooms, and depending on which room you have great views! Our room, Suite 1, on the eastern side facing ocean and golf course had great view. Other rooms, on western side of property facing away from the golf course don't have as good of views. Service was excellent, and the few small issues that came up (twice electricity in bathroom went out) were resolved very quickly. All the workers from valet/bell boy, reception, food servers, bartenders, poolboy were all very friendly and willing to serve. The outdoor Sky Bar is beautiful, and the bartender, Lupita, mixes great drinks and plays nice music! We went exploring every day and valet was always willing to bring us ice for our cooler. Not sure why people have complained about service on previous posts. Likely overly picky people.

The food is very good to excellent, although expensive (similar to high end resort prices in Hawaii). Having breakfast room service on patio was very nice! Of the five nights we were there, we ate dinner at hotel twice, both excellent. We recommend the gaspacho with shrimp highly! Dining in La Cruzcita should not be missed for a greater variety of food, more local color, and lower prices. We had wonderful stay for our 15th anniversery and would not hestitate to return. .

My husband and I just returned from a week at the Quinta Real Huatulco and loved everything about it. As travelers who prefer unique and casually elegant properties, it is the place to stay in Huatulco. Evidently successful businesspeople, government officials and international musicians think so too from who/what we saw during the week
Perched on top of a hill with great views of Tangolunda Bay, we loved the design and materials used throughout the resort and suites. Our suite was large and comfortable (my husband claims he had the best sleep of his life that week), the balcony wonderful with couch, hammock and table and we were lucky enough to have a private plunge pool & patio down our spiral staircase that felt like paradise on the edge of the jungle. watching the iguanas, butterflies and beautiful birdlife whilst lounging in our pool often demotivated us from exploring elsewhere.
food, while typical resort prices (but not overly extravagant), was imaginative, fresh and flavorful. head to town to save a couple pesos if that's your goal. we did both and enjoyed all (especially the restaurants around La Crucecita's plaza and on the beach at Santa Cruz).
the resort's infinity pools and beach were relaxing and never crowded. the many steps down to the area may bother some who might want to go back to their room repeatedly but we saw it as a gentle way to get some minimal exercise.
all the staff was very accomodating. just make sure to ask for what you want , as, in the spirit of relaxation, you will be left alone unless you indicate you want to be disturbed for food, drink, massage, etc.
after having traveled extensively we can truly say this is one of our all-time favorite resort-based vacations. we loved the quinta real and recommend it as the place to stay on Tangolunda beach unless you just have to have the busy and basic all-inclusive experience.
