“Well Worth it”

This hotel was as nice as it shows on its web page. The pool was great and the food in the hotel restaurants was top of the line. The hotel has three pools and two of them are restricted for adult’s swimming only. This is nice and not a problem for the kids since the kiddy pool is big enough for them to have plenty of fun. The gym was well equipped and the hotel is in an extremely well situated zone right in the middle of everything you may want. There is a very short walk to shopping centers, restaurants and night clubs.

One of the few draw backs was that the hotel lobby has no air conditioner. Although a nice breeze flows through it, this was not the case with the elevators.

Overall, I had a great time during my stay with the exception of the poor front desk service. Most of the time the personnel working at the front desk look to busy and confused; there was one time that I waited over 20 minutes before I decided to walk away and return at later time.

“Great Holiday in Acapulco”

Emporio Acapulco Hotel

4 of 5 stars
Wimborne, United Kingdom
Jul 11, 2008

We stayed here for a fortnight when the hotel was the Hyatt Continental.

This was our first long-haul holiday and as we had only ever been to places such as Spain, Canaries etc. we totally overwhelmed with the beauty of Acapulco Bay.

The Hyatt at that time was a large three-star hotel and our room was comfortable and spacious with a huge bed. As the sun went down on our first day, the bay lit up with a huge firework display which we enjoyed from our balcony.

As we try to avoid hotel dining wherever possible, preferring to eat at local restaurants, we only ate once in the restaurant at dinner time. Unfortunately my partner was ill for a couple of days afterwards, but this could well have been the searing heat that accompanied our fortnight as much as anything he had eaten.

Every evening, we'd finish off the night with a drink in the hotel's welcoming bar area and occasionally we'd sit in the bar set right on the sand.

The pool was massive, and snaked in a full circle throughout the grounds and under little foot bridges and around manmade islands. We didn't actually spend any time around the pool as unfortunately it was the type of hotel that organised games and activities such as water aerobics, beauty pageants and similar hideously embarrassing events for the guests, so we found the beach to be a far nicer area to relax in.

The beach area was relatively free, compared with other destinations, of vendors and people trying to sell trinket/boat trips - another pet hate. The sea was deceptively calm, but when the waves receded, the pull was so strong in was almost impossible to stand upright.

We ate breakfast in a little restaurant immediately opposite the hotel and dinner was taken in any one of the numerous restaurants lining the road around the bay.

A great holiday overall, but probably wouldn't return as we saw more or less everything Acapulco had to offer and beach-based holidays are high on the list of pririties nowadays.

“I loved every second of this hotel”

Emporio Acapulco Hotel

5 of 5 stars
Toronto, Canada

This hotel is grand. The spa is amazing and the restaurant food was also delicious and not over priced. This hotel has everything you need. I had a kitchenette so I was able to bring left-overs home and warm them up the next day in the microwave. The grounds are really well kept, they've got really cute parrots, turtles. The rooms were beautiful and the views were breath-taking. Also a great location.

“A great hotel”

Emporio Acapulco Hotel

This has been our fifth trip to Acapulco over the last 10 years. We stayed in this hotel a few years ago (when it was called Continental) and, as we like the location, we decided to try it again. We were 4 adults and 2 children, so we had one room with king size bed and one room with two double beds, breakfast included. We were very happy. The rooms are big, air conditioning is quite, bathrooms are good, the hotel is clean, and breakfasts are opulent. The service is good. There are two large swimming pools, one for children and one for adults, the latter, overlooking the ocean, is absolutely stunning. There are turtles and parrots on the garden (and the kids loved them). You can rent palapa on the beach (200 pesos a day but all what you can consume until 200 pesos is free). Only 200 metres away (towards old Acapulco) is a great small beach restaurant El Morrito with one of the best seafood I have ever had. Highly recommended.

“Not suitable for a family”

Emporio Acapulco Hotel

Apr 1, 2008
1/1 found this review helpful

2 adults and 2 kids (6 and 10). we were planning to let the kids to the "kids club" but this is suitable for childs up to 5. all club activities are inside, nothing into the the swiming pool or on the beach. the hotel is on Condesa beach which is not suitable for kids due to the waves quiet strong.
Room are at a Courtyard level or an Ibis+. cannot see differnce between Privilege level and standard. the 49 sqmeters of the description should be true if taking into account the balcony, the bathroom, the coridor with the cabinet.
Poor quality of the entrace door which is opening on the avenue side. the traffic on this avenue is huge during days... and nights, making rooms very noisy. even on the 10th floor.
No help/recomendations from the concierge to enjoy your stay. you have to discover all potential activities and sites by yourself.
all services are subject to fees: hut on the beatch=$20USD/day, Internet connection=$1USD/minute, kids club =$9USD/day....
The swiming pool is nice. that's why the hotel is acting as a public swiming pool. not sure to find a place to seat after 8:30 am !
at the end of the day: only suitable for business trip. not vacancies.
