We arrived on April 26th, 2008. We flew into Montego Bay and took TIM Air from Montego Bay to Negril. We highly recommend taking TIM Air instead of the 2 1/2 hour bus ride from Montego Bay to Negril. The flight was 17 minutes long! Well worth the $150.00 per person total!
We stayed at CocoLaPalm Resort. Our rooms were not the greatest by any means but they were livable. We stayed in the 800 block of rooms located at the front of the resort. We were right off of the parking lot and the main road so we did hear the traffic at night. If you will be staying at this resort, request to not be in the 800 rooms...all of the other rooms were very nice and had nice views and locations.
The staff at the hotel was wonderful and very friendly! Be sure to visit Michelle at the beach bar and have a Dirty Banana! They're the best!!
Each morning we ate breakfast at the restaurant at the hotel and it was well worth it! There were 4 of us total and we never spent more than $11.00 on breakfast for all of us! The hotel gives you breakfast vouchers which contributes $6.00 to each person's meal! The food was great and inexpensive!
We also ate the beach bar every day for lunch and had great sandwiches! We went to the restaurant at the hotel one night for dinner and had lobster thermidore! It was to die for!
You should definately attend the manager's reception for free appetizers and cocktails. They had a live reggae band playing and it was a lot of fun. Also, check out the beach party on Friday night. The band that night was awesome and we had a blast dancing and drinking!
The grounds at the hotel were beautiful and lush. They have 2 pools. One is located in the center of the hotel and one is right on the beach. We spent a lot of time in the beach pool because it is for adults only. We never had to share it with anyone! The resort also has a huge hot tub which is nice and relaxing at night!
The beach at CocoLaPalm is very nice and they have plenty of beach chairs and shade. They also have 2 security guards who walk the beach of CocoLaPalm to keep the peddlers away which is nice. We do, however, recommend buying fresh squeezed orange juice and fresh fruit from the beach peddlers...so good!
We had a blast at CocoLaPalm and in Negril itself! Definately make your way to Margaritaville which is only a few steps from the hotel. We went on a catamaran tour which took us snorkeling and cliff diving from Rick's Cafe and included lunch and drinks. The name of the company was Red Stripe Cruises and the cost was only $50/person. Totally worth it! We also went to Mayfield Falls which was something I will never forget! We walked and climbed and dove and swam through the water falls for 2 hours! If you need a cab to take you there or any where for that matter, ask for Tarman...he parks his van across the street from the resort...he's very nice!! You should also pay a visit to Donavan who sits on the beach in front of the pool and sells his hand-made carved crafts and jewelry. He's very nice and has beautiful crafts! We bought a few things from him!
Overall, we would return to Negril and CocoLaPalm in a heart beat!
