“Good Value”

CocoLaPalm Resort

CocoLaPalm was a good value. My girlfriend and I stayed in a "Deluxe" room, which contained a king-size bed, bathroom with large shower, tv, safe, frig (no minibar), and AC for around $90/night. As some reviewers noted, there were tiny ants here and there, but nothing to worry about. Overall the room wasn't great, but was fine.

The best thing about this hotel is its location on the beach. Perfect water & balance of sun and shade (provided by trees with big leaves). It offers an open-air bar & grill which is about 20 paces from the water, offering lots of mixed drink options (& red stripe of course) and decent food (we had our first jerk chicken here, and it was pretty good). For GREAT JERK, go to Best in the West, across the main street from CocoLaPalm. It was awesome. The hotel has an open-air restaurant also, which was usually closed for lunch (though it advertised both lunch and dinner) and wasn't much of a great option for dinner. But its breakfast was good and reasonable (the coffee they served was quite good - this coming from a picky coffee person).

Front desk and staff were all very nice. The guard at the entrance of the hotel will help you get a cab if you want one. You'll need one if you want to go down to Rick's or to the shopping areas down in "town."

“Okay for the price”

CocoLaPalm Resort

This was first time to travelling directly to another country and it was different than cruising. Anyway, The Cocolapalm was clean and the front desk, Jackson was pleasant. We didn't have any problems checking in. Actually my packet with key was available upon arrival. The room (standard) was clean and efficient. It smelled fresh everyday we were there and the maid service always kept it clean. The only thing I didn't like was there are no hair dryers or irons available. When we requested an iron they were all out because of a wedding.
The restaurant was okay not a wide selection to chose from.
We only ate there for breakfast once.
Jamaica Limited Tours was able to provide tours for us on two of the days. The beach are gorgeous. You have you hustlers trying to get you everyday but they backed off when you say no.
There wasn't too much to do in the vicinity of the hotel. Next time I will stay at a larger resort all inclusive to not worry about being occupied and busy everyday. I would recommend the hotel if you really don't plan on staying in the rooms. It's clean and a good place to lay your head.

“CocoLaPalm...Nice and easy”

CocoLaPalm Resort

4 of 5 stars
Clinton, Connecticut
Apr 27, 2008

Just wanted to write a quick note about our trip to CocoLaPalm...
Let me start by saying that ALL the people we met at the resort were very helpful and very nice..This made our stay there very relaxed...just what we were looking for...
The food at the restaurant, and beach bar was good...maybe a bit expensive for the area but it was always good quality, and good portions.
The rooms were nice, we stayed in suite-E in the "annexed" section next door...good sized rooms, tile floors, good air...worked just fine for us.
The grounds are pretty, with lots of tropical foliage, flowers, and nice landscaping.
The pools and the jaccuzi were nice and well taken care of.
All in all this is a nice, clean, well managed resort with great staff.
It is in a great location in the middle of the beach making it a perfect base for walking trips up and down the beach.
I'd stay here again...and probably will... :-)

This resort was the absolute WORST place I could have ever stayed at. I eat at the resort one time and that was one time to many. I ended up eating everywhere else but the resort for the rest of the week. The rooms were old, had no properly working water and the toilet ran. The air conditioner dripped alot of water which we asked to have fixed..They did not fix it. The staff did not understand what a wash cloth was when my sister asked for one. The lamp did not work and a lock was broken on one of the doors. It was noisy all night and day long. The TV in the room also did not work. There were no ironing boards to use when we asked. I could go on and on but what is the use. Fully be aware that the resort is low end.

“Awesome Stay at Coco Lapalm Resort”

CocoLaPalm Resort

Mar 30, 2008

We stayed at the Coco LaPalm Resort and had a FABULOUS time! There were 12 of us there escaping the cold Wisconsin weather. We had six adults, two college, two teens and two elementary in our group and every single one of us had a wonderful time. We chose to pay for a private transfer from the airport and were happy we did it this time—just to arrive earlier and the Red Stripes awaiting us!! We had a FUN ride—we did stop at a market on our way to pick up Red Stripes & snacks that we kept cold in our rooms (we’d brought coolers for the beach). Checkin was a breeze for us. The grounds at Coco LaPalm are immaculate. The greenery is lovely and the flowers are pretty. The people working here are great in all areas. We had no issues while staying here. Our rooms were nice with comfortable beds, clean and more than efficient. We got up each morning and headed to the beach. My family all received the breakfast free with our package purchase. When I’d inquired about this in an email to the resort, I was told if you received the meal vouchers, depended upon who you booked with. All four of us received them as my kids must have been considered ‘adults’ as they were teens. The group with elementary did have to pay extra. We chose to ‘open a tab’ when we checked in—an option I had learned of from a prior tripadvisor member I talked to. This was the way to go for my family. Each morning when my son got his first frozen drink, they started the tab. At the end of the day, we just signed and got our receipt copy. If you have kids, I’d highly recommend doing this. There were no discrepencies and all of the food and drinks we purchased at CLP were great! We ate breakfast each day, lunch most days and supper one night. We loved the beach at CLP. We enjoyed seeing the ‘fresh fruit ladies’ and the ‘fresh fruit juice guys’. We enjoyed talking with the security guys and just hanging out. The ocean here is so lovely and calm enough for all of us to play as we chose. However, there was enough wave action that you could listen to the waves come it. We did jetski a few times ($20 pp for ½ hour), parasail ($40 pp), hairbraid ($20). There are floaty rafts already at the resort so we just used them (free) vs. blowing the ones up that we brought. Very relaxing floating the ocean. One day we took a private tour to the Original Mayfield Falls. We left early enough that we beat all of the buses that eventually arrived. We were the second group heading up the river, which was wonderful! We all enjoyed this. Not as large as Dunns River Falls but lovely and exciting enough to fit all of our groups’ ages. The drive there was fun too. A great experience for our kids to see another culture. We did the Rick’s Café one night and had a great time there too. We went early enough (3:00 pickup) to get a good seat before the crowds came, did our jumps, had some drinks, ordered supper and waited for sunset. Our sunsets at the resort were equally as beautiful, if not moreso but it was a fun evening. One thing we enjoyed about being at CLP was the way that the beach is the ‘highway’. We left our resort at night and walked barefoot up the beach to find our restaurant of choice. One night was Margaritaville, where we celebrated a 10 year old's birthday. They went above and beyond for all of us. Having traveled quite a bit, I would highly recommend this resort. It gives you the chance to ‘experience’ the Jamaican beauty, great people, awesome food, fantastic drinks. Because they allow you to run a tab, you can still get the ‘all-inclusive’ feel without losing the chance to venture out and experience the area. We’d all certainly stay here again in the years to come. Ya Mon’!! :-)
