“I Loved it because it will always remind me of Turbo”

I Love this place. Room 113 will always be precious to me but room 108 has better cable lol. I would stay there in a hear beat anytime as long as I have platinum and turbo is there. This place made me fall in love all over again and it was a good feeling. Will never forget Silver Seas. so if you're just looking for a place to chill and escape your worries go to Silver Seas.

I was thinking about this review on my flight back from Jamaica. I wanted to be as fair as possible while being honest. Here's what I thought -- this hotel was not worth the cheap rate.

The hotel has stunning views and the veranda we had, courtesy of staying on the first floor, was awesome. That;s about it.

We stayed in room 108. As we walked in we thought, wow...it's spacious and not that bad. Then we noticed the terrible mold/mildew on the corner floor of the bathroom/hall. So, we'll start there:

The bathroom smelled funky. The windows were paneled with no screens and we didnt feel safe opening them. The shower curtain had mildew all over it and the bathroom just looked filthy in general. THERE IS A TOWEL SHORTAGE and my best decision was to bring my own bath towel. Thank goodness! My two girlfriends had tiny dingy towels that got wet with the first wipe of their arms. We found 1 cockroach whom we named Lenny in the bathroom on our last night.

We had a large walk in closet that was nice, but it reeked with the mildew/mold smell, which smelled like feces.

We had 2 lamps in our rooms, both looked like they came from a dirty cheap motel -- kind of like what you see in the movies. But they served their purpose.

The paint in our room was peeling and there were a ton of dead bugs on our ceiling. Our airconditioner sat precariously in the wall near the ceiling with no caulking or anything -- ie, there was space around the air conditioner, which allowed bugs in. On the veranda, the tray that the air conditioner was sitting on was falling apart, which scared me to death because the air conditioner could have fallen at any moment.

The beds were nasty, but I didnt bring my own sheets as another reviewer suggested. The comforter was nasty and I did bring my own pillow and throw blanket, which was awesome considering that the pillows on the bed were old couch pillows.

There is no phone in any of the rooms and TV is inconsistent.

The pool area was so ghetto -- they had a "braid corner," and Precious approaches you the minute she sees you so she can braid your hair. We didnt want to lay by the pool because of the people -- who werent staying at this hotel -- that were around. We just didnt feel comfortable.

There is no beach at this hotel -- there is sand and a concrete wall with precarious steps leading into the water. We did not partake in the "beach" experience.

We regretted not paying the $100 or $200 more to stay at an all-inclusive hotel. We would have felt much safer and more comfortable if we had.

My stay at this hotel was beautiful, it was inexpensive. The staff
was friendly and helpful the only problem i had was the television
reception, which was not a big deal because i spent most of my time out of the room. It was well worth the price.

The Silver Seas where do I begin. Let's start with check in. I guess I did not experience the nightmares like other travelers seem to have had at check in. Since we landed in Kingston with plans to spend the day there, we contacted the Silver Seas to let them know we would not reach till late that evening. We were told that would not be a problem, and it wasn't. I think it took a total of 5 minutes.

The staff was friendly enough, Cowboy was extra protective, and Francis (the lady that cleaned our room) was awesome. I miss Francis. Our room was cleaned daily with no problems. Sure there is a towel shortage, but you learn the routine after a few days to get up and bathe early enough since you may not get your towels back for awhile! The pool is amazing and the view from the room was incredible. The photos on the site may be a little outdated, but not much different really. Maybe a little more 'weathered' than in its day. There is not much of a beach. Not your walk in sandy kind anyway. That was probably my only complaint.

The rooms are basic but you get what you pay for. Who wants a phone in there room on vacation? Not I. Its as easy as walking down to the front desk to make a call if needed. The location is perfect, anything you need in Ochi you can find on James Ave. Only 5 minutes from Dunns River Falls, which I absolutely recommend.

I think some people are to hard on the place which is why I decided to finally write this review. This was my first time in JA and have since been back. If I had stayed in Ochi, I would have returned to the Silver Seas...and one day I will.

“Hotel from hell!!”

Silver Seas Resort Hotel

All nine of us were thoroughly anticipating what we thought was going to be a wonderful experience in this seemingly beautiful hotel as seen on the Internet. Nothing could have been further from the true reality of the state of this hotel. Just where it was placed alone as we drove up was enough to warn us as to what was ahead. Disappointingly it turned out to be just that - dirty, grubby, smelly, musty, old-looking, tired-looking - pitiful excuse for a hotel! The receptionist was obnoxious and unhelpful (though I hasten to add the rest of the staff were sympathetic, courteous and helpful). The ladies in our group were ready to go home, not even having seen the bedrooms. We stayed there for 2 awful nights where we had to sleep on our towels and couldn't wait for morning. The best part of visiting that hotel was the going home. The sad thing is that you can see that in the past the hotel must have at one time been glorious. But now it looks unloved and uncared for. The best part of the hotel was the swimming pool. If we never saw the hotel again it will be too soon. It was a total disappointment. On arrival feeling so disappointed by the standard of this hotel, we spent two hours trying to make phone calls to try and get our money back and go elsewhere but were unsuccessful. We had taken one set of grandparents as a treat so you can imagine our disappointment with the whole experience.
