It's a year later and we're still talking about this place. Every once in awhile I'll say to my girlfriend "I miss Jerry", and she smiles and knows that I'm talking about the old yellow hound who stood guard over the front drive and loved going for walks. And that I'm talking about the wonderful time we had on vacation at El Marinique. We loved everything about the place. Getting there may not be simple, but once you're there it is as relaxing and beautiful a place as you could want.
We started our days with Nicole's hearty breakfast and lots of coffee. Then headed off to any number of hiking spots or beaches. Andy knew everything there was to know about the area and how much we should pay for what, which was helpful. The easy access to Playa Rincon by boat was great. I've never been anywhere where there are 3 miles of completely undisturbed beach. We spent several days doing absolutely nothing, but lying on the beach and walking down to to outdoor "restaurants" at the far end of the beach for lunch.
At El Marinique we stayed in one of the apartments that had 2 floors with the bedroom upstairs and the kitchen, living room, dining room and bath downstairs. It was well furnished and had all the essentials. We enjoyed walkiing a few minutes to town for groceries and being able to make our own meals or coffee.
Just go. You won't be disappointed.
