“LOVED IT! Don't listen to the bad reviews! I'm a NY girl, I know my stuff!”

Punta Cana Princess All-Suites and Spa Resort

I stayed at this resort from June 14-20th. Let me tell you, this resort was great. Don't listen to the bad reviews of people complaining about the animation team, or the food. These people don't know what their talking about. The animation team is SUPPOST to be loud and get people into a vacation feel. What do you expect? I'm from NY so I'm a picky eater. The food wasn't the best I've ever had, but it wasn't horrible. There was always something I could eat.

The grounds are beautiful, and the beach, breath-taking. The people who work there really go out of their way for you. Can we please keep in mind that this is a 3rd world country, so if your not happy with something, chances are it's because your so use to living easy in your home-town.

My boyfriend and I visited Manati Park. If your thinking of swimming with Dolphins, that's the place to go. I've been wanting to for so long, however when we went we didn't have enough money on us. (I guess we just have to go back then!)

The Fondue place, and Tex-Mex were the best resturants on the resort. The food was great, and the atmosphere was nice. Overall, please don't listen to the bad reviews, these are people who are probably high-strung, and are living in mansions LoL.

“Wonderful time at the Princess!”

My new husband and I vacationed at Punta Cana Princess from May 25th to May 31st 2008. We had a wonderful time. Check in went smooth. They even brought us drinks while we checked in. We purchased the Platinum Honeymoon package through our travel agent, and our package also included VIP bracelets which gives you access to the beach beds and upper shelf liquor. We also received a bunch of little freebies which you pick up at the customer service desk, including (2) 20 minute massages, one romantic massage, one romantic dinner, and one dinner at either La Cava or El Picador. The romantic massage is a 20 minute massage that you receive in the same hut. For our 20 minute massages, we stopped by the huts at the beach spa, and asked them if we could have our massage now without scheduling, and it was not a problem. Since the beach huts were all two beds, it was just like the romantic massage. For the romantic dinner we could pick the restaurant of our choice. However, for this meal, they do not give you a menu so I don’t think it matters what restaurant you choose. They give you a nice table with little flowers on it, and the service is extra nice. You get the Lobster and filet mignon which was very good.
Because we were honeymooners, we were also invited to the honeymoon dinner. This took place on Wednesday at Mare Nostrom. They first served champagne and appetizers outside then took your picture with a wedding cake and two of the staff members. This picture they give to you the next day at guest services for free. They also take of picture of you alone kissing, but that one you need to buy. The appetizers were really good, Brie on toast, smoked salmon on toast, and others, but those were my favorite. They then serve shrimp appetizer, salad, Lobster and filet mignon, and a piece of the cake. It was all very good!
For breakfast and lunch, we often went next door to Caribe Princess, because my husband liked the slightly larger selection. It was also fun to see some little kids (for a few minutes!) and experience more of a French cliental. We ate one dinner at the Tex Mex and it was wonderful. If you are craving beef, this is the place to go. We also ate at La Cava which was very good. For change of pace, visit the Crepaerie on the Caribe side for lunch.
This resort is remarkably clean. I got a blister from wearing a pair of flip-flops, so for the rest of the week I carried my shoes and walked barefoot almost everywhere I went. Except for walking on the beach, I didn’t even get one piece of sand on my feet!
The honeymoon suite 4205 was a beautiful white room, with the Jacuzzi on a second level inside the room. We were able to see the ocean very well from our second floor balcony. Some people say they don’t go on vacation for the room, but we used our Jacuzzi twice, and loved it! It is very large, and you have a great outside.
We never had the need to play the towel game, even in the early afternoon there was at least one beach bed open. The resort has many lovely bars to choose from. There is waiter service on the beach, but it is spotty since one person runs the service and mans the beach bar at the same time. The next bar is only a short ways away at Mare Nostrom. The pool bar is fantastic for lazy afternoons, and socializing. The lobby bar has the largest selection and they make fantastic espressos.
We walked to Steve’s bar, which only took about 20 minutes, if that. As long as you are wearing sneakers, it’s not far at all. Just go out the lobby, turn left and go through or around the spa onto Caribe property, then walk through to lobby of Caribe and turn left behind the golf course. At the end of the golf course is Bavaro Plaza, and a block later is Steve’s bar.
Maid service made it to our room in the early afternoon. They did a great job keeping our room clean. We received turn-down service every night. Every one working there was very friendly, and I am still singing “Hola” to everyone I meet. I can’t wait to go back!

“Would Visit Again”

I went with a few girlfriends for Memorial Day weekend. We had a wonderful time!
Positives: * Beautiful property. It's definitely what you would like when you go to an island. The landscaping was just butiful :) I love that the hotel has two properties. One geared to families and the other to adults. Of course, we stayed at the adult hotel but it was good not to have to deal with kids running around and so forth.
* Service! The people are really hospitable. Solomon at the front desk took great care of us. (I read another review that said negative things but he was absolutely GREAT to us).
* Our room came with little gifts that went a long way and was very thoughtful (i.e. towel shaped like a bird, bottle of rum, cigars, fruit basket, etc).
* Activities. The hotel has activites planned. They had pool dances during the day and things such as karaoke at night. It was fun! And they have a casino, theatre, etc.
* Misc. My friend left her portable DVD player in one of the restrooms and one of the staff returned it to us. The honesty was very much appreciated and we were extremely grateful.

Negatives: * Not sure how to explain but the rooms have this moisture in them...it may be from the humidity but nothing ever really dried.
* The service on the property was GREAT except for this one girl that worked in the buffet/restaurant. I didn't catch her name but she was just rude.
* I'm the type that loves the jacuzzi and sauna. These two were in a bit of a seperate area and closed entirely too early (6pm) for a resort.
* Food. I didn't enjoy the food in the snack bar/buffet at all. Almost everyone had the runs when we returned home. The steakhouse and room service was pretty good/okay though! I forgot the name... The service at night (after the club hours) was not good either.

Just a tip if you are visiting DR...Please be sure to bring OFF. The mosquitos are fierce! LOL

Best of luck!

“ONCE WAS ENOUGH”

Punta Cana Princess All-Suites and Spa Resort

I am in full agreement with the folks from Atlanta. They could not have described it better. We stayed May 31-June 7 and I was happy to come home. While the beaches and resort are lovely, there is nothing to make up for the inedible food and loud anamation team. It was nice to visit but once was enough. Oh! And the transfers to and from the airport? SCARY!!! Do not trust everyone's wonderful reviews. While the main buffet claims to have theme nights, every time it all looked the same. I don't go away just to eat but I do not want to starve either.
ITS BETTER IN THE BAHAMAS!!!

Ok, first let me say that this was my first resort trip, ive done alot of cruise's to alot of different places because i dont like to fly, so take my review for what its worth. The resort is very nice, very well maintained and landscaped, the beach is clean and they pretty much keep it raked everyday, that being said all of this is being done by the people getting paid 7 dollars a day and receive no tips because you never run into them, wich is the way it should be but they are the only ones who deserve it. The housekeepers do ok ,but you will have to fight to find a washcloth. I really think there is no difference between VIP packages and whatever else they offer because everyone seemed to get the same thing, no matter what ,(example) vip passes get the beds on the beach, and it was basically first come first serve. You will not get served your drinks on the beach so plan on walking back and forth to the beach bar, i really did not mind ,but it was kinda expected. The liqour does pour but dont expect anything topshelf ,but it does the trick, and the Greatest bartender, is in the lobby his name is Emilio he's very entertaining and alot of fun. The Animacion group is very annoying and very loud , so if you expect to just lounge quietly at the pool forget it. FOOD FOOD FOOD if you can pack a suitcase full of Hot Pockets id think you would be better off, The buffet never changes, and everything is pretty bland, some of it i could not describe even though they tried on the little cards above the food , but i dare anyone to prove to me that actually was chicken. The a la carte dinner joints are as follows Mare Norstrum seafood, ive had better at Long John silvers, and it takes to long to get served, Tex Mex steakhouse extremely terrible wait staff and the meat is just nasty. dont remember the name of the Fondue rest but it was actually pretty good, not to many complaints there, but i think we got treated a little extra nice because the waiter fell in love with one of the girls that was with us. for the most part stick with the buffet you will find something to sustain you all week. The all adult aptmosphere is nice and i met alot of people from alot of different places from around the world that was neat. Fill your week with excursions but dont expect to see much on the drive to and from just trash , dogs and nasty hanging meat. I had alot of fun because of the people i was with so it was worth it, but i wont be back to the princess or the dominican.
