“Great for Kids”

Club Med Punta Cana

4 of 5 stars
new york
Jun 11, 2008

I just got back from a week in club med punta cana.
I was looking for place to go on vacation with our 2 young children 5 months and 24 months.

I had read a lot of the reviews before we left and found them to be mostly accurate so I'll try to just add and not repeat.

I read a lot about people getting sick so I was extra careful not to drink the tap water, I also mostly avoided the "filtered water" they left in jugs on the restaurant tables and drank the filtered water from the soda machine. I never got sick but some of our friends did, I guess it was the water as they brushed their teeth with the tap water.

Bugs... there were some mosquitoes but nothing compared to some other Caribbean spots I've been to , little bit of bug spray was all I used on a few nights & barely got bitten

The kids camps had great facilities and are well staffed, there was a lot of crying in the mornings at drop off in the petite club (2's & 3's) but I guess this is a problem when day care or school is new to kids.

Our room had some mold which I wasn't too happy about

Overall we had a great vacation.

“Good resort , bad stomach ache”

Club Med Punta Cana

Our company chose this resort as a reward for our top sales people. We are based in California so just getting there was quite the adventure. Once at the resort the service I felt was good, not great. As Americans we were a large group and this resort primarily catars to French families. Only one person in our group brought their kids but as parents this wasn't a problem.

I'll start with the good stuff. The beaches are spectacular and the weather was perfect. For just laying around this place cannot be beat. The beach bar offered cold beer, drinks, and decent snacks throughout the day. The gym was very well equipped and more than adequate for our short stay. The spa services were excellent and the spa staff very attentive. We did a group snorkling trip and this was ok, this is not a divers paradise but still fun.

That being said now the bad. Only one restaurant was open and that was it for breakfast , lunch, and dinner. The selection and variety were ok at best and several people in our group ended up getting very sick during and after our stay. We think it was the water but who knows. This made what was overall a very nice place not so nice.

Traveling 16 hours home sick was no fun.

“LOVED CLUB MED PUNTA CANA!!!!”

Club Med Punta Cana

I just returned from spending a week in Club Med Punta Cana. I cannot believe all of the changes that are being made throughout the resort. I just wanted to take a moment and share with you what I experienced while I was there. The two most remarkable changes to me were the additions of the new oceanfront Tiara suites and the new Spa. I had a chance to experience both first-hand and they were nothing short of spectacular. Along with being both spacious and beautiful, the oceanfront suites come with their own private infinity pool, concierge service, and numerous other amenities. The Spa is not done justice by the pictures. It is so peaceful and relaxing, and the entire staff was very impressive. I took advantage of the opportunity and got a Swedish massage. The entire treatment process, from a swim in the Spa's infinity pool before, to the time spent drinking tea in the Zen lounge after, was fantastic. I have also had the opportunity to check out the new Mini Club Med and the water park for the children's clubs. There is so much for children of any age to do there, and the supervision the staff provides is exceptional. It makes me want to be a kid all over again. All around the property, which is over 70 acres, the gardens and the buildings are beautiful maintained. Needless to say I would recommend Club Med Punta Cana to anyone looking for an amazing vacation in an amazing destination. I cannot wait to see the resort after all of the other renovations are completed.

“There was a sickness problem, but the resort quickly corrected it.”

Club Med Punta Cana

My wife and I visited Club Med, Punta Cana, May 11 - 18, 2008. We had a wonderful time. During our stay there was an outbreak of sickness among quite a few of the guests. No one was sure whether it was food, water, or flu related, but the resort responded quickly and went to extraordinary efforts to correct the problem. They sanitized the whole resort and changed they way they served the food in the buffet. We have since heard that the "epidemic" has passed. Don't let a couple of negative reviews affect your decision to visit this resort. It is a beautiful resort. The staff is friendly, fun, and more than willing to do all they can to make your vacation enjoyable. Our room was clean and comfortable. It was a Garden View, but we could see the ocean through the trees. The Mini Club Med for the children provides a safe and enjoyable place for the kids while the parents enjoy all the resort has to offer. The resort is predominately French speaking, but most of the staff speaks English too. Be sure to try the snorkeling out by the breakers, take a kayak to get there and tie off to the white buoy. There are lots of fish to see, some quite big. Also try the kayaks and riding the breakers back in, it's fun, almost like surfing in a kayak. Be sure to take water shoes as there are sea urchins with sharp spines out by the breakers and unless your are better at steering a kayak than I am you will be flipped over, but you just climb back on and do it again. Sailing is also very fun and the GOs (staff) are very good teachers if you've never sailed before. There is a fair bit of toplessness on the beach and even sunbathing around the pool. Ah, the French have such good atitudes about such things. The resort is like a health club, lots of exercise classes all day starting with yoga on the beach, aerobics mid-morning, and the pool aerobics at noon were very popular. They have a state-of-the-art fitness center with all kinds of exercise machines. Lots if not most of the guests are fitness buffs and were in great physical condition. In summary, it's a wonderful resort, reasonably priced, the food and drinks were good and plentiful.

“To Sick To Enjoy”

Club Med Punta Cana

May 26, 2008

Well, apparently there is some serious food posioning or bug that is going around the resort. Many people were very sick. I spent much of my time in the room.

The beach was beautiful...the discovery excursion amazing..., but the staff was unaccomodating. All in all a very disappointing experience.
