Bayahibe is growing so come before it is "too" discovered. If you like all inclusive then go do that and leave this villiage alone. This is one of the few places left for the independent traveler. We really loved this lil town and the people we met there. Except the roosters.. We really enjoyed our stay and the snorkeling tours which we booked all through Villa Iguana. The penthouse room is the way to go! Your own pool to refresh in after salt water swiming at Playa Bayahibe, bring dinner in to your own patio table. One and only complaint is the matress was horrible on my back, very hard to sleep on.
I smiled the whole time I was there and you feel great getting such a good deal while all the other tourists cram on thier luxury beach and stand in line for food.. which is just next door to the same beach 'playa bayahibe' .. which is clean, wide open and free! Our room was much cheaper and we got to eat at our own timing and choices at amazing local seafood dining in town! When you stay in Bayahibe the resort guests have to come here to take the "Isle Soana Tours" so you get to sleep in too.
There looks like lots of construction is starting in the town so go soon while locals still live here. Enjoy!
