We were only staying for one night in Tokyo, we had large amounts of luggage, and this was our first trip to Asia. So we needed something easy.
Which is pretty much what we got - having missed the instructions for the hotel buses leaving from narita airport, we caught the train into the central Tokyo. From there we went one stop on the tube (subway) to Ginza. You can go to Ginza Itchome which is directly under the hotel, but for ease, the hotel is still walking distance from Ginza. Once in Ginza station, make a note of how the blocks are numbered on the maps outside the turnstiles. I think on the same map there it also shows where the Mercure Ginza is located. Exit out of A13 which is about a 5 minute walk from where you come out of the turnstiles.
As for the hotel itself, the staff were friendly and helpful. The rooms were clean and the bathroom quite spacious. It contains all of the mod-cons (including those famous Japanese toilets with bidet etc on it). Bathrobes and slippers are also provided.
The international paper written in English dropped outside our room was a nice touch - at least the staff pay attention.
All in all, this is a simple hotel - good for a place to lay your head. We found it relatively easy to get to Haneda airport from there as well.
