I went here on my first night in Tokyo. Surprise! It's right by the Imperial Palace (I asked the taxi driver what the "big park" was). Be sure to specify to a taxi driver that this is the HANZOMON of Hotel Monterey because there are other "Hotel Monterey" places. It is 3 blocks from Hanzomon station on the Hanzomon subway line. The staff was very helpful with check in, directions, and on the way out. The cleaning staff said a loud "hello" in the morning. Ask which staff is best at english if you're having trouble.
The main room is small. The view was the local street. It's a great area and judging from advertisements a place with expensive condominiums. In the morning I ate at a bento box place down the street with good food. There are coffee places and a yakitori joint nearby.
The Chinese place in the bottom looked fancy but had a little too high of a price for me. I didn't try room service because I was a budget traveler.
For about 100 dollars I got a great single occupancy place. There is a TV with the BBC. The paper in the morning was the Wall Street Journal asia in English. The mini bar is really inexpensive compared to American ones and has vending machine fare.
The bathroom has a big tub with a good shower head. The toilet has a bidet and other fancy features. Everything was clean, no stains, well arranged. Shampoo etc., is similar to the Holiday Inn's.
Bedding was a little firm but cozy and modestly big. There's a closet, dimmers, and an electricity saving key thingy.
I took a long walk around the imperial park the next day and went through the bewildering transit experience.
I will be going to this one again the next time I need a place for a night. I'm not sure about the other ones in the hotel chain.
