“Great Location, Large rooms”

We stayed here for 6 nights in February, and it was our base for sightseeing around Tokyo. The hotel is very impressive, and the main plus is the size of the rooms - very big by Tokyo standards, with a large double aspect window overlooking Mount Fuji, a dining table and seating area, loads of storage space and a large bathroom with bath.
The hotel is across the road from the Subway entrance and a short walk from many restaurants, both Japanese and English, such as Mc Donalds, Subway, and a few others. It is a nice area to stay and felt safe to walk around at night. We found this hotel great value for money when booked through Opodo, however the hotel's direct rates were far far more expensive so shop around! The Hotel has several restaurants and bars including a cocktail bar on the top floor, well worth a look just for the view which is stunning.
Overall I would recommend this hotel for travellers, although I can't comment on the business facilities.

“Got a great deal”

I got a fabulous deal for an "extended stay" on one of the internet booking websites. We stayed for 7 nights for about $140 per night. The service at this hotel couldn't be more attentive. The concierge helped with restaurant recommendations and reservations. The view from the room was good, we were on the 34th floor. The restaurants in the hotel were pricey, but there are plenty of other options nearby. There is an excellent bakery just outside the 3rd floor entrance that we used for an inexpensive breakfast in our room.

“All Around Pretty Good”

Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka

May 28, 2007

The hotel is very clean, the staff very friendly. Tips are added automatically into your bill, so don't worry about tipping. The location maybe isn't the absolute best in Tokyo, but it's pretty good. It is a short 5 minute walk to the Akasaka metro stop, and the ride to Ginza, Roppongi, etc. is very quick. The area is very clean and safe at night, more so than other parts of town (Sujuku). The hotel is more modern than some of the similarly priced hotels in Tokyo (i.e. New Otani). This is a great choice for business travelers, perhaps not as great for romantic couples who are looking for something a little more quaint or secluded.

“Good value for Tokyo!”

Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka

May 20, 2007

I have been to Tokyo many times and I know that on the whole hotels there are quite expensive, similar to hotels in NYC, London and HK. Luckily, we found a really good deal online for the Akasaka Prince hotel, so we decided to give it a go. I have stayed in many hotels in Shinjuku before, so it was nice to stay in a different and less touristy area for a change. This hotel is huge but surprisingly it doesn't feel like a touristy hotel. We took the 'limousine bus' from the airport because it stopped right in front of the hotel, so it was more convenient than taking the train even though it probably took longer.
The service at reception area was efficient and professional but not particularly warm. The room itself was really big and the view was amazing since we paid a bit extra to be on the top floors! The decor is quite strange with white plastic furnishings dominating the room and the bathroom. It has a '70s Stanley Kubrick film set' feel to it, but it does look better in reality than in the photos. The bathroom had all the amenities you would need, as well as the famous electronic toilets that you would only encounter in Japan.
We did not eat in the restaurants because there are many good and cheaper local ones nearby. However we did go to the bar and had some cocktails... the view was great but probably less spectacular and not as hip as the Park Hyatt bar. We found the location very convenient, actually the hotel is only a few minutes away from the subway station, so I am not sure why one of the reviewers complaint about the distance between the hotel and the station.
On the whole, we were quite satisfied with our stay at this hotel. It is not a 5-star hotel, but for the price and location, it is very good value for money esp. in a city like Tokyo. P.S. Do remember to shop around for deals because you could be paying the 'official rate' and this would cost you a lot more!

“Terrific hotel”

Grand Prince Hotel Akasaka

I have stayed in many hotels around the world, and think the Akasaka Prince Hotel is by far one of the best. We found the staff very helpfull, and although I can speak Japanese, my partner found their english speaking skills were above average. Our room was just fantastic, with amazing panoramic views of tokyo city and the imperial palace. Akasaka iteself is one of the easiest places to find, and the Akasaka-mitsuke station is on the same corner as the hotel istelf, so not a very far walk at all. I found the rooms at the hotel above average in size, the beds were very comfortable and very big. The cleanliness of the rooms was imaculate, and even the cleaners would stop as you walked past to say hello, which was a very pleasant surprise. All in all, I definately reccommend this hotel and will stay there again soon. The only thing I will advice against is don't go to the cocktail lounge on the top floor to drink, as the cocktails are bad and very expensive. Great spot to take some photo's though!
