The hotel was close to the Shinjuku Station transit/shopping hub, yet located on a quiet block. The room was very small, but that’s typical for Tokyo.

Ask at the front desk for a map to the local laundromat. It’s a 5-10 minute walk and will allow you to travel lighter.

Great place to stay in Tokyo

I stayed at the Sunroute Hotel for 7 nights. Service was great and the room was very clean. The room size was not big although it was very well kept. Internet access was free via a cable. Location was great as the hotel is close to one of the biggest stations in Tokyo, with connections to almost everywhere. I found the placement of the LCD TV a bit odd. It is located on a bench by the window and is by the side of the bed, not facing it. There were also no cable channels in my room. There was not much view to speak of as the hotel is not very tall.

Fruits are expensive in Japan and they are almost all local produce. Do try the grapes though. They taste great. You can get those in nearby department stores.

As good as everyone says!

I went to this hotel based on all the good comments on this site, and this hotel lives up to its reputation. Location is fantastic-to all the sights and shopping in Shinjuku, close to the Meiji gardens and temple, once you exit the south end of the gardens, you are in Harajuku. I can’t say anything bad about this hotel!!

If you are too early for the airport limo bus to the hotel itself, take the airport bus going to Shinjuku. When you get off at the Shinjuku stop, if you are facing the road, go to your right and walk about 5 minutes (cross one intersection, pass McDonalds) and you are at the hotel (before the bridge)..

Decent hotel in good location

Location just off the main strip of Shinjuku provides easy access to Tokyo and local shopping and (easy) eating, especially in the electronics street, just across the main street.

Excellent hotel, but rather expensive

It’s a bright, clean hotel with an unbeatable location (subway station right next door, or a 5-minute walk to Shinjuku Station, where you can board trains to many destinations, including the Narita Airport Express). English-speaking hotel staff were willing to help with all kinds of problems. They even lent me an adaptor plug to recharge my laptop battery. As in most Tokyo hotels, the room was a bit cramped for space, and it was expensive compared with regular business hotels in Japan.

Excellent value for money

The hotel’s location is everything. You cannot be closer to the very heart of the commercial/cultural district of Shinjuku, and it is a 2-minutes walk to Shinjuku station from where one has quick easy access to literally all parts of Tokyo and its suburbs. The service was impeccable, the bed and the mattress very comfortable and like good all days in Tokyo the bathroom had all the amenities, from razor to hair comb. The hotel was apparently completely renovated a year ago, so it is very modern and clean, with free high-speed internet available round the clock. The only thing I missed in my room was a chest of drawers, the absence of which forced me to keep all my clothing in the suit case, not a very comfortable situation. Overall, excellent value for money and highly recommended.

Service, Cleanliness and Location!!! --What a delight

We stayed at the Sunroute Plaza Shinjuku for 5 nights during our holiday in Japan. I was very impressed with the hotel from the time I arrived at the JR in Shinjuku which is walking distance to the hotel. It is close to a variety of places to eat, main subway lines, department stores-- Takashimaya, Keio, underground. The rooms are small but very clean and you cannot beat the rates. What a way to start a holiday.... I would definitely stay there again.

Will return on next stay.

Very pleasant hotel on a perfect location

The hotel is very clean and pleasant, situated next to the Shinjuku station, amongst the thousands of stores and restaurants - perfect! The room is small, but has everything except wardrobes! Not even nightstands! But, being meant primarily for businnes overnighters, it does not need to, either. All in all, best value for money I could find!!

Very impressed

I expected the hotel to be smaller compared to USA rooms. There was not a lot to the room, but it was very clean and efficient. It was very close to some nice restaurants and train station.

I would go back

Overall the hotel was a good value. It was a nice location and easy to navigate from, near a major subway station. The double rooms are very small unless you have a room with twin beds. Our bathroom was clean but had a very strong sour odor. Unless you get the breakfast as a part of a package it was not a good value for the money. Starbucks is right next door though and we also found a small restaurant serving a traditional Japanese breakfast near the hotel.

Not as good as we expected

Were we satisfied about the room - NO Will we go back again - Maybe I know hotel rooms in Japan are very small so we didn’t have much expectation. BUT the room is even smaller than what we’ve expected. With 2 pieces of luggage in the room, there was no extra space at all. Well, I can live with a small room after you got what you paid for. We went out early in the morning and didn’t get back till after dinner anyway. My biggest disappointment was the bathroom. It smelt. We didn’t complain coz it’s late at night and we were too tired after the flight. The hotel is in a very convenient location near JR Shinjuku station and subway station. There is a McDonald’s and AM/PM right next to the hotel. So if I have the chance to visit Tokyo again and could not find anything better I will still give it a try and hopefully they keep the rooms cleaner next time.

BEST HOTEL IN SHINJUKU !!!!!

THE LOCATION IS GREAT!!! THE ROOM IS CLEAN AND VERY COMFORTABLE....THE SERVICE IS EXCELLENT AND EXTREMELY METICULOUS....THIS HOTEL IS ALSO CONVENIENTLY LOCATED IN THE CENTER OF IT ALL. THE SUBWAY IS EASILY ACCEABLE RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET. THE MALL ACROSS THE STREET IS ALSO GREAT...THERE ARE LIKE 3 MALLS JUST RIGHT ACROSS THE STREET!! AND EVERYTHING ELSE IS JUST A SHORT TRAIN RIDE AWAY!!!

A great experience

I had read superb reviews for this Tokyo area hotel before my trip and I must say I was thoroughly impressed the entire experience. Since I was traveling with my girlfriend I upgraded to a Queen bed for a small extra sum. Our room was sizable for Japan standards and the bed was extremely comfortable. The room was clean, the shower had good pressure, we had new robes and slippers every day and a great little flat screen TV. The lobby atmosphere and sliding door entrance was very impressive. My only negative point was the International breakfast buffet. I didn’t feel like the selection warranted the high cost.

One of the best business hotels in Tokyo

In the guest lounge, they have only 2 computers. Every time I visited the lounge, they were occupied by the other hotel guests. They should be increaded by 3 to 4 at least.

Checking In & Out is like Going Through NY Toll Plazas with an EZ Pass

I was in Tokyo on a business trip. I leave early in the morning and return in the evening, and so I did not have the chance to know much of the hotel services but I can tell they should be excellent by the way they keep my room clean, the front desk service fully staffed and just how they respond to any needs you have. They checked me in and out like going through the NY toll plazas with an EZ Pass.

Traveler's tip on saving a few bucks

Compared to many years ago, I found the subway personnel to be conversant in English and so it was easy to get directions on fares. They even advise you what platform to use. Announcements in most subway trains are both in Japanese and English. Being able to use the subway to move around enables me to it faster and cheaper, a lot cheaper.

last minute tokyo trip

i highly recommend the hotel sunroute plaza shinjuku. i had been concerned about finding suitable accommodations for my stay in tokyo because i was planning this trip on very short notice, but after perusing expedia’s offerings the sunroute shinjuku seemed a logical choice. centrally located, this hotel is phenomenally clean with superb front desk service. the room’s are very small (what do you expect in tokyo?) but comfortable with nice bathrooms. With the very fair price offered on expedia, my sister and i who would normally share one room were able to each have our own in this great hotel!

Small Room; but Best Deal in Town

The above title says it all. Just a short, if confusing, walk from Shinjuku station gets you to this clean, modern hotel. Great for overnight layovers if you are sick of Narita’s limited shopping opportunities. Would not recommend for long stays due to small room size.

Excellent value for money

Loved the location, loved the hotel, loved the amenities and the staff were so friendly and helpful. All at the front desk spoke english which was really helpful. Great noodle bar a few doors up. Totally reconmend this hotel. Tokyo is a blast anyone contemplating go ahead and you will not be disappointed.

Good and Conveinence

This is the best location in Shinjuku. Hotel is nice and clean. But the rooms are small and would not confortable for 2 persons (especially big guys).

Easy access!

Finding your way around the layers of Tokyo can be daunting which makes this hotel get 5 stars for location. It was a five minute walk from the JR Shinjuku station and it is marked on the station’s map of the neighborhood. I didn’t spend much time in the hotel room because I was exploring the city but the room was clean and comfortable for a one night stay.
