We are staying at the Oasis Canoa. Should we pack our own mask and fins or does the hotel let we sign them out? We don't really want a guided trip, just snorkel a little around the hotel.

We are leaving on Sunday 5-25-08.

Thanks.

Hi AO,

I always take my own. I have not stayed at the Oasis but I like to snorkle when I want and for how long I want I find most resorts let you borrow for 1 hour a day...that doesn't work for me...hehehe!

Enjoy your trip!

I agree... there is enough snorkelling at the Oasis to keep you occupied for more than the typical lend will allow... my family all took ours, and are very glad we did.

Good fit, known cleanliness and sheer convenience dictates that I too recommend taking your own snorkel and mask. If inclined, you can borrow fins from the hotel (though it's not necessary). They can make paddling around a bit easier, the fit isn't usually an issue and cleanliness certainly isn't. Sometimes the hotel will ask you to put down a deposit for the borrow of equipment and if you do a scan over the fins before you head out, there is less chance that damage will be caused.

Does anyone know if snorkeling is decent off the beach at Melis Caribe Tropical?

take your own. like Kaki said, there might be some clean issues. I'm a bit of germaphobic and I did not feel right using the ones in the hotel or the ones they give you when you go to catalina island. so I ended uo buying my own for $15. im sure I could have gotten a better quality one here for the same prize.
