where to see fire works on July 4th |
We are planning a 2 family trip on 4th of July for a couple of days. The other family is from Canada and we want to show them the best of Texas. We are looking at staying on the river walk at Mariott Plaza(off river walk but nice pool), Omni or Menger, Hyatt Hill Country Resort or L Cantera. Need a pool to cool off and keep kids happy while adults have a cool drink. Would like to see fantastic fire works show on 4th, which hotel would put us in the best area? They all offer great ammenties close by and we plan on doing the river walk/ Alamo, Sea World and either Schlitterbaun or Six Flags and outlet malls on the way back to Houston going north we will go to Natural Bridges Caverns. Thanks in advance for your suggestions. Deb |

SA's fireworks are best viewed from the Woodlawn Lake area. There are no hotels nearby. Fireworks at the theme parks will be good, also. If there's a Misson's game they'll have fireworks also.

Where is Woodlawn Lake area in relation to the River Walk? What kind of action would be going on in the River Walk on the 4th? Thanks, Deb
Your best bet will be the Westin La Cantera or the Hyatt Hill Country Resort...Neither are on the river, but both are close to Fiesta Texas and SeaWorld...Woodlawn Lake is ok,but out of the way and parking and crowds are crazy(a bit ghetto)..I would pick Hyatt, because it is all about the kids, and they will LOVE Lazy River..Six Flags is fun,but generic..Schlitterbahn is unique and a great relief from our Hot and Humid summers............

I believe Sea World also has fireworks on the 4th so the Hyatt Hill Country Resort may be your best choice.
Because of the lazy river, Hyatt Hill Country would be a terrific hotel for your stay, but for the night of the 4th, I would think Westin La Canterra would be absolutely fabulous. It sits up high on a ridgeline so you'd have a long view out over all fireworks going on for miles and miles.
Westin La Canterra would be a great place to see them. Also, it sits right next to Fiesta Texas which also has fireworks, in addition to the shows listed in other posts.
No fireworks near the Riverwalk downtown? That is a bummer. What am I going to tell my kids?
Woodlawn Lake is about 2 or 3 miles north west of downtown. If you get a room facing that way and pretty high up, you'll be able to see them.
actually if you stay at the westin la cantera you can see the firework display at fiesta texas perfectly and it is a great display you just have to go out to the front drive and there are the fire works and it has a great pool(and pool side bar)and its just beautiful
I agree with Westin La Cantera for a great view of the fireworks from Fiesta TX plus you will be near the Shops at La Cantera is a great & unique place to go shopping, with it lush greenery & soothing water ponds www.theshopsatlacantera.com/html To check out Woodlawn Lake Park here is the website www.saparksfoundation.org/July4.html Have a fantastic time in wherever you decide to stay & please write a TR & let us know how it went.
