Hello I love trip advisor everyone is so cool and helpful. So thanks in advance for the help, I'm taking my wife out to dinner for her birthday in the French Quarter. I need some suggestions for a romantic dinner were she can wear a dress but I can get away with slacks and a nice shirt.....Thanks It's to hot for jackets... seafood is a plus and money never matters on your wife's birthday.... Thanks Peace

I recommend Antoine's as well. If you're lucky, they may even give you your own dining room (there are a bunch of private rooms, on a first-come/first-served basis). Our waiter even gave us a tour of the restaurant when we were finished. Very historic place, with hidden doors & rooms from Prohibition times. Great food and a wine cellar to die for. We had a great experience all around. Were there last October.

GW Fins.......make a reservation, tell them its your wife's BD! They will make her a "Happy Birthday" personalized menu with her name imprinted. The menu will be waiting at your table and is yours to keep!

GW Fins is a beautiful restaurant. Ask for a booth seat, they are slightly elavated allowing you a wonderful view of the restaurant. Very romantic.

My rec on seafood there is the sea bass....amazing!

If you're sticking to the Quarter:

1. Bistro at Maison de Ville

2. Bayona

3. Irene's

.....in that order.

In the French Quarter, I agree with GW Fins. Excellent seafood dishes. BUT if you want to make it extra special, it has to be Commander's Palace. They have very good seafood dishes as well.

We love Stella! in the French Quarter! Have also had great meals at Bayona (French Quarter), Restaurant August (business district), and Cuvee (business district). An unusual choice that we also love is a local favorite, Eleven 79, on Annunciation Street. It is excellent authentic Italian food, specializing in veal.

Definitely Stella! It's an incredible restaurant and quite romantic. It's one of the best dining experiences I've had in the city. Then, I would have to say Restaurant August, Bayona, Galatoire's and Commander's Palace.
