I have booked 4 nights at the St Pierre. does anyone have any experience with it. We don't want a chain, preffering something quaint and New Orleansy, but we surely don't want bugs and mice and filth. Is it clean, just old? Or should I cancel those reservations and book somewhere else in the Quarter, Price range needs to be $100-$125, since this is my treat, the less the better! What about the Prince Conti? thanks!

I didn't like my stay there. I would suggest the Villa Convento, Place D'Armes or the St. Marie.

I don't personally know anything about the St. Pierre, but if the reviews are bad and relatively recent, you may want to reconsider. I agree with the Place D'Armes or St. Marie suggestions. Remember New Orleans is a large city, so hotels will be more expensive.

When are you visiting, Cheryl? Depending on dates, $100-125 will either be a dive or a very nice place running low-season specials!

My room was dirty upon arrival. The AC went out several times. Housekeeping did do a good job during my stay but over I felt that I was staying in a low-quality hotel. I don't mind low-quality hotels all that much when I'm not paying much but I just didn't enjoy my stay there. I did not see any bugs in my room though.

Cheryldee . If you are unsure why spoil the lead up to your vacation with worry. I have stayed at the Prince Conti last three years and although not luxury its a great base and always been clean. If you can stretch to it and get a good deal go for a suite. We found it worth it for the extra room. For the location and service we received there it was far superior to other hotels in the quarter. If you booked direct keep an eye on their web site if the price drops call them and they will change the price for you

I think that was a good choice.

I'm not 100% positive but I think that was the hotel Samatha Brown (?) on the Food Network or Travel Channel stayed at, and it looked nice. You might catch a repeat of her show, it was on last week.

I've stayed at the Prince Conti and it was just fine. It's not the most luxurious place, but it's well-kept and clean. The location was great as well. They have some really good specials from time to time.
