I am going to stay at the Hyatt Regency Boston this summer at a standard room of a great rate of 186 with breakfast and discounts at their restaurants. I have researched on the hotel on the website and on TA. However, there are not a lot of candid photos which are pretty recent, the website seems to be extremely outdated (they say they use Neutrogena, but Hyatt uses Portico Spa...), and the reviews don't give a ton of info as in the fine details (in which I really would like to know).

So....What is your opinion of the Hyatt Regency Boston? How are the rooms and furnishings and such? What are some features you liked, and the pros and cons of your stay?

Thanks in advance to all the people on Tripadvisor!

I didn't read the whole thread: why is he even renting a car?

Another thing: the Hyatt is fine, but if you can get the Westin Copley for $160, and you cancel the Hyatt without penalty, I would totally stay at the Westin.

There is a day trip to Wakefield, not near the commuter line. Also, wants to drive outside the city to explore.

AlanM:

Nope. After this deliberation I guess it will be better if we just simply book two days first and then one day. However it costs around 30 dollars more than renting for a week (this was why- but still I never found a solution to cheap parking- in CA most places are free parking unless you live in big busy or high class areas). The fees to rent for one way rentals are also bad- same thing as renting from the airport. But at least the rate is the same.

Who knows? More itinerary planning will tell if we need the car for the 5 days in between.

Will007:

Well...here's the math: $5 more per day- seven days- 35 dollars extra. I would buy more cannolis instead! :)

Anyway- I also found another solution of parking at the Hyatt Airport. $32 per day with in and out! Unbelievable...

Thanks for the temperature! I think we will be fine.

Anyways I still need to plan out the itinerary more so to see if we need the car for so long. Annoyingly rates are now up- which might make it more to redo the reservation :(

Rantipole:

Have you stayed in the Westin or Hyatt? I would like to know your experience so to compare- as we do want to lengthen the trip and if we do we would probably pick Westin as it is 36 dollars cheaper per day. However we are Hyatt Gold Passport members, which makes it reasonable to choose Hyatt over Westin. And Westin doesn't have rooms until the day we are supposed to leave- but we can lengthen the trip to visit Cape Cod and other places. And also, our rate at Hyatt (186) also includes breakfast for two and discounts at restaurants and more.

Thanks for explaining my situation to Rantipole.

Thanks for all the replies!

In a side note- anyone go to the Apple Boston Store? It looks very interesting.

I haven't been to Apple yet. It just opened and looked rather chaotic the other day. I'll wait until all the hoopla settles down.

What about parking at the Wellington T parking garage?

$3.50 per 24 hours. I have parked my car here for more than a 24 hour period. It is a covered garage with security.

Another option, call the rental car company and ask if you can leave the car with them for a few days, since you will not be using the car. It's worth a try???

Will007:

That's a good idea. Hopefully it will settle down by June- when H&M opened in our area, it took about 3 months until the busy opening stuff settled down. And now it's not even busy. And before even security guards had to stand at the door.

Remay28:

Interesting! Now I should find other parking garages that the T is at. And parking at the rental company might work too. This was what I was meaning before a long time ago. We were staying at the Hyatt Seattle, and there it had a rental counter. So, when we parked in the parking garage (in which the hotel and rental share), our parking was validated and free! Maybe it will work.

Thanks for all the tips!

Well, I didn't wait too long to check out the Apple store. I was there today and while it was busy, it wasn't too bad. The whole Back Bay was definitely in full swing today!

Hi Eileen,

I'm going to settle in for the nightcap myself. My feet need the rest!
