We will be landing at Kalului Airport at about 8pm after an 18 hour journey from the UK (not to mention an 11 hour time difference). We are staying down in Hana, but would like somewhere nice to stay fairly near the airport for one night before driving down to Hana the next morning (rather than doing the drive that night after such a long journey). The 2 hotels that appear to be near the airport do not get good write-ups and seeing as it is the 1st night of our honeymoon we wouold like ot stay somewhere fairly nice for that night. Can anyone recommend somewhere good fairly near the airport (within a 20-30 minute drive?). Thanks!

I agree with your strategy of not staying at the two hotels near airport. Certainly not a good way to start the honeymoom. I would pick one of the Wailea hotels which are about 30 minutes drive away (about 25 km).

Check out the Inn by Mama's Fishhouse...maybe 10 minutes from the airport and right on the road to Hana...pricy but it is you honeymoon! Never stayed there but looks gorgeous. And better than backtracking.

Check this out as well. It is a B&B in Wailuku about 10 minutes from the airport, very close to the Queen Kahumanu church.

I was trying to think of the name of this B&B.

I've never stayed there but I went to a party there.

I can't even begin to explain the attention to detail in the rooms. It's like post war Hawaii. Stunning.
