Coming up I-81 from the south. Any suggestions for a family-friendly diner-type place along 79/96/89 through Ithaca? How about along 90/34B?

I use to eat at Kelly's Dock-side cafe for brunch. Loved the food and the view of the lake. No website.

Here are some choices in Ithaca:

Ithaca Diner: 116 W. State St., 272-6009.

Lincoln Street Diner: 309 E. Lincoln St., 216-1616.

Manos Diner: Rt. 13 South, 273-1173.

State Diner: 428 W. State St., 272-6189.

The State Diner has won a "Best of Ithaca" award in the past; not sure about the others.

I personally recommend the Smart Monkey Cafe and the Ithaca Bakery on Route 13 or the Carriage House on Stewart Ave off of Route 79. None of these are diners and are a little more expensive than a diner but all have tasty offerings.
