how far is jfk airport to hyatt regency on the hudson |
|
Hi my husband and myself are coming to new york for xmas and the new year(cant wait, really excited!)we fly into jfk arrive at noon and are wondering roughly how far the hotel is. Also any tips on good eating places and good friendly bars to go to. We are english but now live in Tenerife, so were looking forward to a nice cold xmas :) |
|
It's not a matter of how far but a matter of what. Taxi fares from JFK to any part of NJ except Newark Airport is unregulated. In other words, it is whatever the driver and you agree to.
|
Just wondered roughly how long it would take us from jfk i think weve got a shuttle ride from the airport anyway, but we cant book in the hotel until 4.00. Thanks for your reply anyway. Also want to get as much info about places to visit, ive been over before about 16 years ago so did alot of sight seeing than, stayed with my friends in long island, just wondering about good places to go in the evenings

Who is providing this shuttle ride? As far as I know there are no direct shuttles from JFK to that hotel. That type of direct route is probably done through a car service. Use mapquest.

Oh i booked our flights and hotel through ebookers.com and it said on the booking confirmation that there was a airport shuttle bus service, no worries we will get a taxi, do you know of any good eating places and good friendly bars around the hotel area?

Any ideas of a good place to eat and be entertained on christmas day!!

You might want to post another thread with that question so that the Jersey City people will see it. There are one or two around but they don't post every day.

it depends on what time you arrive to jfk, and on what day. the other day i drove from laguardia airport (roughly the same distance as jfk) to the hyatt area in like 20 min.. this was at like 3am though, so the roads were virtually empty and i hit all green lights in manhattan. realistically, though, it would take you about an hour from the airport to the hyatt. as far as checking in, usually the bigger hotel chains will accommodate you if you arrive early, and will let you check in early if the room's available. for food, definitely eat at the hyatt restaurant at least once - supposedly it's really good (although expensive). there are several other restaurants within walking distance.. 2 good websites to check out are: http://hudsonmenus.com/listings.php?areaid=10 and Hoboken is the next town over from Jersey City, jam packed with restaurants and bars. If you have time, it is worth the visit (you can take the PATH train there from the Exchange place stop, which is a 2 min walk from your hotel). I don't really have any preference when it comes to Hoboken restaurants, but you might want to try any on the waterfront (Trinity, Quays, 340 grill), as they have nice views and good menus. I don't usually eat out in Jersey City so I can't recommend any good places nearby - although if you're in a hurry or want something cheap, go to the Flamingo Diner (it's 1 block away, on Montgomery Street). If you want "authentic" American food, that's a good place to start. Any more questions, feel free to post again and I'll try and help you out.

There are lots of great restaurants in Jersey City. You'll see them on hudsonmenus.com, but some of my favorites are -Amelia's Bistro -John's on Sussex St.for pizza -O'Connell's -Ole has pretty good Mexican -Honshu right by your hotel has great sushi -and if you fell like walking about 10 minutes I highly recommend Skinner's Loft on Newark Ave. There are tons of great restaurants in Hoboken too. Some of my favorites there are -3 Forty Grill -Court St. -Cafe Michelina -Oddfellow's (best avoided on the weekend) -Charrito's (great Mexican) -T Thai -Grimaldi's for pizza Also try www.menupix.com They have lists for Jersey City and Hoboken.
