No there is no bus service between Virginia City and Reno or Carson even for that matter :(, although last I heard they were again trying to get the city to get some sort of service between the two, but as of right now, nope ..nothing..

I am not sure they are doing tours of Ponderosa anymore, I know they were shutting it down last year, I am not sure if its open right now or not, but I know the ranch is closing to tours ..but DOUBLE check on that..

Since the original msg was from 2005-this is a little late. But for anyone who wants to know-yes they are still doing the tours-I took one two days ago. It's only about 20 minutes or so and I wouldn't exactly say they have a real time schedule.

You have to check in and see what time the next tour leaves.

I live in Virginia City and can tell you that both the Chollar Mine and Ponderosa Mine are open for tours all summer long. Winter hours are more restricted. Go to the Virginia City website for more information on all attractions: www.visitvirginiacity.com
