Be careful renting a private condo in Chicago. There are very few buildings that allow short term rentals. VRBO is aware that many of the Chicago listings are involved in an illegal activity and have chosen to do nothing about this. People have had reservations canceled at the last minute, lost their money and been told to lie to the doormen saying they are relatives of the owners.
