Ocean Key resort and spa |
|
Ocean Key has no beach. KW is not a beach destination. Pier House, right across Duval from OK does have a small beach. In my opinion OK has the best rooms, but PH has much nicer grounds, so I personally would chose PH. However, PH has some construction going on right now so that may be a factor. Good luck!

Duck--G'town boy here. Ocean Key does not have a beach but has perhaps the nicest rooms on the island and is located right on the main entrance harbor into Key West, like having a suite right at Haines Point. It has a beautiful pier right over the water. http://lh6.ggpht.com/_Nvb2u-2s5GU/R5Fp_R4DnZI/AAAAAAAAADY/v5pJg1m5O9Q/Key+West+Vacation+Photos+029.JPG

It's been several years since we stayed there, but Ocean Key is fabulous! As for beaches, the keys aren't really beach destinations, as most are man-made (and small). But trust me, everything else makes up for the lack of great beaches. You'll love the Ocean Key and Key West!

Hi! I'm travelling to Key West just for 1 day in early December and am thinking of staying at Ocean Key resort too. I checked out Kayak.com and the current offer is going at USD314. Is this the average hotel rate that OK offers? I'm wondering if I should book now or wait for them to have other cheaper offers later this year. Appreciate any advice. cheers!

Hi there! Having stayed at Pier House once and Ocean Key many many times, I liked the beach at PH but still found than Ocean Key had the nicer rooms, views and best set up. We do like to go to the beach so we take a relaxing walk through Truman Annex to Fort Zachary Taylor. It's a nice beach and the walk is lovely through the Annex neighborhood. Wouldn't have it anyother way. KW

I have stayed at Ocean Key and Pier House and love Ocean Key the most. Pier House has a great outdoor area...and a very interesting tree with long branches....still trying to figure out the name of it. The beach area is just ok, and when you step into the water you sink pretty quickly into the water. But hands down I love the rooms at Ocean Key. The couples massage and soak in the wooden tub is excellent as well.

Thank you to everyone who's replied. I'm getting the picture about the beaches, but I did hear there are a couple of small public beaches. Do you know how far they are and if there are shuttles? Thanks again! :)

There are no shuttles to the beaches, but if you rent a bike, you could easily get to Ft. Zachary Taylor (which is the best beach in Key West), or for that matter, if you don't mind a little walking, you could walk there.
