I will be staying in a private apartment in San Pedro for the length of my stay, give me your honest opinion of SP, is it a safe area, I know its out on a limb, but as a place is it OK?

Holgater,

Haven't you taken that trip yet? You keep asking this and people keep re-assuring you that SP is safe and in some areas quite beautiful. The only drawback is that it is far from most of the typical tourist stuff. I live in SP. I've lived here very close to where your rental is and I loved it. It was a cool area. Now I live down near Royal Palms and I love it. Come to San Pedro...enjoy San Pedro...enjoy your trip. You are gonna love it.

Spap, we fly out to USA on 2nd Aug, first stop Vegas, then move onto L.A. and then move onto Chicago. I was checking out the Apartment in SP on Streetview on Google maps, have you ever used that it is superb, checked that the local 7/11 store, looks like its on the corner of W 9th Street, need to visit for groceries and beer, thanks for reassuring me.

There is a really nice Vons supermarket at Gaffey and 13th. It was just newly remodeled. You could find more stuff there and probably a bit cheaper.

Don't worry, San Pedro is just fine. We went to dinner there last week to the Crusty Crab. Lots of people out and enjoying the summer weather on the wharf area.

Holgater- go to Vons, Albertsons, or Ralphs grocery stores in Las Vegas also. 7-11 has practically nothing compared to these. 7-11 is a place to buy a small bag of chips and a coke and that's about it.

Holgater- Also at Excalibur in las Vegas you can ask for a newley remodeled "widescreen room", they are $10-$20 more per night but are much fresher and up-to-date then the non-renovated rooms at Excalibur.

We've booked a Widescreen Room with a Strip view. Do you know where the nearest Vons is to Excal?

Vons is open 24hrs. a day here in California so it's probably the same in Las Vegas.

You can make a new post in the Las Vegas forum and ask where the closest Vons is to Excalibur.

The "strip view" at Excalibur is not always the best(diffucult to get) becuase of the way Excalibur was built. Good luck.
