Swimming in cabarate beach |
|
It is safe to swim in Cabarete Bay beach. There are usually more waves in the afternoon than in the morning; we had a few rough days but that was mostly because of storms. Where it is not safe to swim, however, is in the Cabarete East side of the beach. Silvia

Expat - about the swimming on the East side of Cabarete Beach. We are staying at the Velero in June. I know we shouldn't swim East of the hotel, but can we swim in front of the hotel or should we move down the beach to the west a little bit?

Velero is located just at the point of Cabarete Bay and Cabarete East. You can go in the water right in front of Velero but most people do walk a few steps into Cabarete Bay. I mean, literally, it's just a few steps (10-15 meters at most).

Caberete bay has a breaker wall a few hundred yards out from the beach so that reduces the force of the waves and reduces the erosion to the beach. The other ares of the caberete area are less protected and can can erode the beach resulting in big waves and some undercurrent in deeper areas. Swimming in Caberete bay is safe. My 5 year old loves it. Although, as always, they have to be watched, it is safe and the water is clean.
