Do a search in the forum. This topic has been covered many times recently. Frequent recommendations include Star Hotel, Kadoya Hotel, and Toyoko Inn. You may also be able to book in English via Rakuten's travel website:

thanks for your reply.

we've checked toyoko inn, but their rooms only have double beds. don't think there's space to squeeze in another bed. considering that we'll have 3 cargo bags too... will check with the rest that was recommended. thanks!

been hearing about sakura hotel..are they any good?

Hi,

Kadoya is 18,600 or 18,900 JPY for a true triple (meaning 3 beds and not just 2 beds and a rollaway). Slightly above your budget.

I thought it was high (alas, too used to hotel rooms easily sleeping 3-4 people in double beds in the USA!).

However, it appears to be a relative bargain in high priced Tokyo, except Kadoya is a basic, no frills business hotel.

It's a bit of a stretch to say Tama Ryokan is in Shinjuku for toursit purpose, although the address is Shinjuku-ku. 2 stops, 12 minutes away on the Yamanote line.

You have probably already made a reservations somewhere already - but just wanted to point out that I just made a reservation for 3 people at Toyoko Inn - Shinjuku. We booked one single and one twin (two beds) and it is 16,380 Yen total including taxes.. and includes a breakfast.

we've managed to book Hotel SunCity at ikebukuro for 3 at 15600 yen. http://www.h-suncity.com/

hopefully its okay!

another qn though.. its quite the norm that there's no need for payment / deposit for reservation of rooms in japan right?
