We've recently returned from 2 weeks in Vietnam and are thinking of going to India in Feb 2007.

For our Vietnam trip we decided what we wanted to do and then booked through an online travel company who did all the bookings for us and I paid them via credit card. Can one do the same thing for India and which are the best tour companies?

Hi, I would suggest and recommend you to check at www.fourwheeldriveindia.com as they have very impressive training program for their drivers. we are using them to provide driver, car and tour guide for our foreign visitors and hotel booking to be done by our self only to get competitive rates directly from the various hotels.

Try www.travelvirus.com but I dont think they do online card transactions. You could also try makemytrip.com who do accept cards online.cheers

We used Bal Travel House (New Delhi) to hire a van-and-driver

for a tour that we generally put together ourselves. They were

reputable and they had the best prices for the van-and-driver

we needed. The same company also provides complete packages, although I can't comment on the packages personally.

You should check out www.travelguru.com, they offer very competitive prices.

& yes "place on wheels" is a must go. It is a wonderful experience to be travelling on it. you'll surely love the indian hospitality.
