Back in March, we booked a week in Sharm through Direct Holidays (now Thomas Cook) for October half term.

Since the take over by TC, we've had three changes to our return flight and today we had a letter saying that the return flight (Sunday) had changed again - this time leaving Sharm on Saturday!!! Our outbound flight remained the same.

This meant that our week's holiday was now going to be just SIX DAYS. I had to read it three times because I could not believe that they expected us to find this acceptable.

Of course, we've e-mailed them to cancel and asked for a full refund, but the point is it's now really difficult to find any availability for the holiday we want.

Thomas Cook are PANTS. When we flew with them in May, we had a massive delay which resulted in us losing a day of our holiday, and now this. Words fail me!

Thomas Cook have caused major problems regarding overbookings and change of airlines, not only in Sharm but in Hurghada where I am travelling to in August.

I've always booked with them in the past, but after the fiasco they have caused this year - NEVER AGAIN!!!!!!!

I cancelled my holiday with TC after the redsea hotels contract was cancelled and they tried fobbing me off with a hotel i wouldn't want to go to if it was free let alone pay for.

It took 2 months for them to refund my deposit. Needless to say i wont be using them again.

Glad to hear it's not JUST us. The letter they sent didn't even contain an apology! I still can't quite believe that we were expected to pay the same price for a day's less holiday. What on earth is going on with them?

On a happier note, we've just managed to rebook our holiday with a different tour operator - mind, it's cost us an extra £300, but at least we're still going!

Cheers Tracy

I did try TR, but couldn't get the hotel we wanted. I have managed to book with a company called 'On The Beach' though. Has anyone used them? The flights are with XL

Hi LizziTall,

Ya we booked our holiday with OTB for September all service very good!!

Also went to Tunisia last year with Xl and they were fine planes were quite new and the standard was good.

I think you now have to pay extra for a in flight meal but that is the same with most airlines at the moment.

enjoy your holiday.
