I went to taba last year and was told to drink lots of water (which I didn't) and always wash your hands after touching their money. Saw a man feeling all the bread rolls to see if they were soft and gave him a piece of my mind. My partner, 8 year old and myself were fine and never had any tummy upsets - I think the alcohol killed any bugs !!

lol Ali bet they expected you to tip them for it too!!

Few weeks ago I was convinced I would have to cancel cos paranoid about getting ill over there, haha. But what more can you do other than the advice given, I feel bad for anyone who has been bad and ill whilst over there though.

Got several hundred bottles of hand gel to take with me!

Peppermint tea seems to help!!! I used that when I felt a bit iffy and it really settles the stomach. I am now drinking it back at home supposed to help digestive system. As you are not AI it may be worth buying a box of peppermint tea bags to take with you

Dont worry too much have a gr8 holiday

You may have heard it already, but I'd strongly advise AGAINST ice cream bars in Egypt, even though it's hot.

Combination of reasons -- different things in their milk products, but also the good chance that it's melted, been refrozen, melted, been refrozen, and that lets creepy things start growing.

I bought one from a vendor at Abu Simbel and it took me down hard for a day and a half of explosive results in the loo.

My boyfriend and I followed all the rules re only drinking mineral water and using it to brush teeth etc. Also used anti-bac gel after handling money and even after washing hands. I was so careful and didn't over indulge in food or drink and kept hyrdrated, but still got ill within 3 days of being there. My boyfriend was ill for the last 5 days of our 10 day holiday. We both took Antinsl from the pharmacy (20 LE in naama - don't buy it at the hotel unless you are desperate) and it didn't ruin the holiday. We still went on excursions etc.

I honestly don't think there is any way to avoid it. I think that minute traces of bacteria must get through in the food somehow so just be prepared to have it, go to the pharmacy firsts night you get there and you'll be fine.

Hi all

Best thing is at first sign of tummy trouble go to local pharmacy (not the one in hotel you will pay double) tell them whats wrong they will give you the correct stuff in may cost a little but it works quick Dont take Imodium or anything like that it only makes you feel worse only thing I would take from here is the rehydration drinks if you have them before you can get to the pharmacy.

I have been to Egypt 7 times but only been ill twice but not in same hotels and other half only been a bit off once
