Weather in December |
|
I'm afraid nobody knows the weather in the coming days. But one thing can be sure, it will not be cold here. Sanya has no winter, just take it easy. But there will be a lot of people here at that time, beach will be very busy.

Having lived in Hainan for the last two decembers...i would say forget it. Its a hell of a long way to travel to visit, for something that isnt that great anyway...plus weather is december is prbably not beach weather. travelling so far, I feel you would be very disapointed...Its beaches do not match up to the average beach in the Med, and they arent geared up for tourism in the same way as Eu countries either. Feel free to drop me a private message if you want more honest info...

Molly57, it sounds like you really want to come to Hainan, How much time will you have? If the weather is cool we Hainan dwellers head straight for the geo thermal springs near Qionghai!! They are open until midnight and have provided the most relaxing stargazing experience of my life. AHHHHHHHHHH! Look!! A shooting star!

Hi, the weather will be nice - not too hot. I agree about the hot springs also check out the "xiao yu qin qin" little fish kisses for some novelty factor. They like the occasional dish of westerner. The beaches at Sanya (incling Yalong bay) are seriously very average. The only decent small crescent of beach I found was on Xi Dao. However there are other things to do as well so the beach won't be your only entertainment. If you want beaches in December come to Australia or (Bintan Island near Singapore) If you have been here and are expecting the same on Hainan then you will be very very disappointed. It is exceedingly more expensive but it is summertime. My local beach is far better than anything on Hainan Dao, that is guaranteed!

The previous poster from Austrailia is totally correct in that Sanya is over hyped, over priced and over crowed. I was there two weeks ago and I will add that it is dirty. BUT, there is a whole island here, people. Get out of the tour bus and rent a car and go for it. You can see pristine tropical rain forests, totally empty beaches and millions of stars. No it is not the French Riviera but how many 17th century pagodas can you see on the French Riviera?

Thank you all for your replies. We were planning on spending 10 nights there, maybe we will change schedule. A few nights with a few nights in Hong Kong and Macau.. So many mixed reprorts. We were thinking of spending the time in Dadong beach.

Sure, do it! It's your vacation. While you are there, take a drive up to Wuzhishan mountain, Monkey Island is FUN, and I personally enjoyed walking around the huge Buddhist Temple to QuanYin!
