Both my hubby and I with 2 kids (6Yr & 4Yr) are planning to go to Hong Kong and Disneyland in Oct. We plan to stay in Hollywood Hotel. Also, we are thinking of spending 1 1/2 days in disneyland, is that sufficient. The last day we plan to visit Hong Kong, where should we go?

It's a very tiny park. One full day is quite enough. Service is very poor and you're almost guaranteed to be disappointed. There are many other more exciting things to do in HK. If you are a first time visitor, take a look at:

Thanks Teddy for your comment. We are first timer in HK and will need advise on where to go and we will be commuting using MTR. The kids will definately want to visit disneyland......so maybe will spend only 1 day in disney and then visit other attractions in HK.

Advise on where to visit and also what are the famous food will be most useful..

Many thanks

some people may be used to the bigger and better themed parks in their part of the world and wouldn't be able to appreciate anything less.

altho hk disney is small, 2 kids as young as yours would still find hk disney magical.

there is a stay and play promo meaning if u stay in their hotel, you can go to the park for two days.

with young kids, factor in rest / nap times and queue times, and walking times.

6 and 4 year olds need more leeway than adults.

Your kids will love Disneyland. It's a HUGE park for ages like your children.

My kids are 5 and 3 now... and they would go EVERYDAY if we allowed them! I tried to keep it as a "special" treat, so limiting our admission.

Have a great time!

I called up Disneyland HK to ask about promo ie. the stay and play promo but was told it was not applicable for mth of Oct.

Anyhow, it is true that with annual pass I can get 15% discount for any day stay in disneyland?

Teddy, as much as you dislike Disneyland, to be objective, and to provide relevant information to Yentek, I think one must be fair to say, Ocean Park, would be more "seeing" for the children, as opposed to "doing rides" like they would in Disneyland.

Ocean Park has a few rides that are very dated, for children that age, AND Ocean Park is under major construction. Operating as usual, but you cannot ignore this fact.

Disneyland is smaller than other Disneylands in the world, however, it's still nevertheless a wonderful place for children under age of 10.

My kids have been to OP many times, most friends that I know who have kids of this age, prefer Disneyland over OP without hesitation.

OP has much better food though!

HK Disneyland may not have some of the big rides that other Disneyland parks have but when we go with my 3yrs old nephew we still don't have to time to do everything we want to do in a day. Whilst it's the smallest Disneyland park it's also the cheapest and is very good value for money and very suitable for young kids. Food and drink in the park os reasonably priced compared to other theme parks. Also queues for rides are mostly short or non-existent if you avoid weekends.

I have been a bit of a critic of Disney in the past, but if we look at it objectively it is good for kids under 10. There is part of the jungle boat ride right at the end where they pretend to be in danger from volcanic flames or something which had a few kids crying and screaming, you might want to watch out for that -- the "captain" is of course not allowed to deviate from his/her commentary, so they are not much help. Even my eight-year-old was a bit taken aback -- but some of the younger ones were screaming. Similarly in Ocean Park there is a place where a very large spider drops down from the roof on ropes, just about gave me a heart attack, you might want to watch out for that. I only mention this because I'm wondering if it might spoil the experience for some of the more impressionable ones. I personally think that half a day in Disney is enough, but consensus is against me, I am a grumpy old man after all. But I think your kids will love Hong Kong Disney, and you can spend a fortune on soft toys and other branded ware in their shops.
