taxi & stanley market |
Hey everyone, A few questions: 1) What's the taxi rates like in HK? 2) I know that I could take a bus to Stanley Market, but what should I look out for to know when to alight? (I'm terribly bad with directions, do suggest obvious landmarks instead :p) 3) Does Kate Spade at Citygate offer large discount? 4) Should I book tickets for Disneyland or buy on the spot? (I'm planning to go there on 9 Jul, noon, 4 people) Thanks in advance!~ :D |

Hi Kristen, taxi rates are reasonably inexpensive. If you are staying on the Island expect around HK $50 and a bit more from Kowloon. Can't help with Kate Spade. Easy to purchase Disneyland tickets on arrival. Do What I did on my first trip to Stanley. Alight when everyone else does !!!! You can't miss it.

Urban taxi flagfall is HK$16 for the first 2km, and then HK$1.40 for every 0.2km, not expensive compare with many places in the world but believe to cost more than in Singapore.

hunts>> Haha, cool! Alight when everyone does! I'll practise that. tin>> Singapore's taxi faced another round of fare hike this year, I was hoping HK will be slightly better. Thanks both for your advice! Really helpful~ Anyone with any idea to Q3? :)
Dunno specifics but citygate has only soso rep. for discounts. Many say not worth the trip. Search this site for discount shopping or the like.

I did remember walking in Kate Spade at Citygate and it was just ok. During the sales period, you'd find the merchandise in the actual in-town store locations to have similar prices with better selection

yes it will be pretty obvious when you get to Stanley markets as everyone will be getting off the bus. The only possible confusion might be Stanley Plaza but even then you can walk to the markets. Sit up the front of the double decker bus fir fab views of HK island.
If you take the bus that I took, Stanley is the terminus. Everyone gets off.
I see... Thanks all for your response. Moonraker>> And which bus did you take?
I was shown this site on a post I placed a few weeks ago...its great for directions to places. this link should take you to the stanley market - how to get to http://www.hongkongextras.com/howtogetto.html Hope it helps you too
Moonraker is correct that Stanley is the terminus, so you have to get off whether you like it or not. If memory serves me right there are also signs pointing towards the market when you get off the bus, but if not just follow the crowds, and you really cant go wrong. Sorry, I cant remember the bus number
