Santo Domingo and Santiago for that matter are interesting real estate markets. If you come with cash and are patient to find the right deal you can do extremely well. 2 areas that I think are excellent value right now are Colina Seminario near the Carrefour shopping center, beautiful neighbourhoods and nice appartments at half the price of pricier neighbourhoods due to its location near low income areas. You can also get new apartments in the farther parts of Arroyo Hondo for less than 100k. Traffic can be a pain getting out of the area but Arroyo Hondo still carries some weight despite the newer middle class developments that have taken off some of the prestige
