Sunshine Accommodation? |
|
Anyone know anything about this hostelworld.com/availability.php/SunshineAcc… ? I am traveling Europe (hostel style) and am looking for a cheap place to close my eyes for a few hours after the opera on sunday. I am coming from Basel in mid afternoon, going to the opera, and then leaving early the next mourning to meet friends in Cologne. |

Sunshine Accomodation is about a 15 min. walk from the Festspielhaus or 3 stops by bus (stop Augustaplatz) Reasonable hotels right beside the Festspielhaus are: http://www.schweizerhof.de/info_engl.php hotel-bayrischerhof.de/bilder/…default.htm If you are going to Cologne by train, consider also a hotel closer to the train station. The station is not in the town center, but a far way off in a suburb. Cheap hotels close to the train station: http://maps.google.com/maps?hl=de&rls=ig&lr=&um=1&ie=UTF-8&q=adler&near=Baden-Baden,+Deutschland&fb=1&view=text&latlng=14190383973773518524 Bus No. 201, direction "Bahnhof" (train station) is calling in front of the Festspielhaus. Hotel Adler is near bus stop "Sinzheimer Strasse", Hotel Goldener Stern close to the stop "Bahnhof".

Sunshine is still a good bit cheaper than the hostels you recommended. My train ticket says I'm going to be leaving from "Baden-Baden, mit ICE", how do i get from there to the Sunshine? thanks so much for the help.

From Baden-Baden train station, the bus 201 goes into town and back every 10 minutes (in the evening every 20 minutes). The bus stops outside the train station. You exit the station through the tunnel leading to platform 1, walk to the end of the station building (just follow everyone else, sounds more complicated than it is), turn left round the corner of the building and stumble into the open bus door you're likely to face in front of you - that's it. This bus stops at Festspielhaus, at Augustaplatz and about everywhere along the main street leading into and through the town. You can also take the 205 which departs from the adjacent stop, takes a different route but also goes to Festspielhaus and town centre. There are more lines, but these two are the easiest to find and the most frequent. The bus ticket will be 2 € from ticket machine or bus driver. DO NOT try to walk into town from the station, it's too far, the walk would take you about an hour.
|
>The bus ticket will be 2 €< You can also buy the "Citykarte" for € 4.50. It is valid for 24 h on all means of transport in Baden-Baden. You can use it for going to the Festspielhaus, and as you will be leaving early the next day, it will probably still be valid for the return to the train station, as well.

Sorry, it should read "all means of public transport", of course :-)

thx so much for all the help. The opera I am going to is Tannhäuser, it starts at 4pm. I know its a Wagner opera, but I'd have no trouble making it to the train station in time for a 1:15 AM train right?

>no trouble making it to the train station in time for a 1:15 AM train right?< Yes, the corresponding bus No.201, direction "Bahnhof", will call at Augustaplatz at 12:30 am. (Festspielhaus 12:34) A pity, you can't see more of the town. Enjoy Tannhäuser, it is believed to be an outstanding performance, I'm envious...
