Hi,

My lovely hubbie has booked a holiday for us in Dinard at the end of June/1st week of July in order for me to recuperate from surgery.

We have spent ages looking for accommodation close to a beach where our toddlers can play. However, on looking at the average temperatures I'm now wondering whether we have wasted our time and it will be a bit too cold for the beach. Has anyone got experience of Dinard at this time of year? Can it be windy or is just like Blighty and very changeable?

Regards

Changeable but better than UK is my experience - seems to usually be 3 or 4 degrees C warmer in Brittany which means if it is standard UK 19 or 20 it is lovely in Britanny BUT if it is a dismal 14 or 15 in UK then it is only 19 or 20 in Brittany. Also when the sun is out it seems to get very hot in Brittany as oppsosed to UK when sometimes even if sun is out it the warmth is a bit lukewarm. Have been to Brittany at this time of year in the past (half term) and haven't missed too many days on beach due to bad weather. You are going later so should be ok

You can be lucky or unlucky....

Last year, when staying near Dinard in early July, weather was pretty similar to that of Mid-West Ireland - which was miserable in the extreme. There was perhaps one - two degrees in the difference with more rain in Brittany.

In 2006 the temperatures were double those of 2007.

At the moment, most of France has been washed out by rain. Its pretty horrid (as is Spain) while Mid-West Ireland is manageable.

One hopes the French skies will run out of rain soon - we shall be in Brittany the first week of July.

Many thanks to you all.

Looks like it's fingers crossed then!!

Managed to get very cheap flights with Ryan air but suitcase allowance is very low - going to take some clever packing to dress 2 two year olds for rain or sun!!!

Thanks again for all your responses.
