We'd love a great recommendation for a suite hotel that would allow our 4 person family the start to a fantastic week of Alaskan cruising. Because we will be living separately on the cruise ship (2 kids in a room and 2 adults in the other), I thought it might be fun to "kick off" our family vacation by getting a nice room in the downtown area of Vancouver where maybe there is a bedroom and the kids could sleep out in the living room. I certainly don't want to break the bank... but a nice recommendation would be helpful!

Several suite hotels that spring to mind are: the Times Square Suites, on Robson, the Sandman Suites on Davie, and the Meridian at 910 Beach. All are well located and should have the kind of suite that you are looking for.

Just a couple more suggestions would be the Hampton Inn and Suites which have 1 bed in a seperate room and a pullout in the living room.

The Holiday Inn also has this feature.

The Residence Inn on Hornby was a good choice for friends of ours who visited recently with their 2 sons.

Delta Suites would be another suggestion.

I expect the Residence Inn would be fine (as the poster above suggests). I like this hotel quite a bit: it is the only one I stay in in Vancouver (4-6 times a year). However, they only have studio suites (eg 1 room only). A single suite will sleep 4-5 people easily. You can get two side-by-side suites and open the connecting door, however. I would think that two suites in that hotel to be more expensive than a 1 bedroom, with living room, in another hotel, however.

Our family, 2 adults & 2 kids (17 & 11) stayed at the Hotel Le Soleil on Hornsby St. I booked a Deluxe One Bedroom Corner Suite which had the main bedroom and the kids slept in the living room. Central to everything. Booked it thru Expedia on a special rate.

Another vote for Times Squre Suites. Awesome.

They have the 1 bedroom with separate living rooms or two bedrooms etc.

Bojangles cafe is in the same building which was very convenient for us. Also good public transit in the area.
