we are two couples having 1 1 /2 days after an Alaska cruise, actually almost 2 full days as we get off about 9 am. Of course want to see and do all, which is impossible!!

Please some suggestions so we can have some options like is Vancouver island easy to go to and what while there?

Also, for a hotel we have looked at Wedgewood, sutton place, four seasons, fairmont and the marriot pinnacle. What are advantages of one over the other for leisurly walks, views, sites and restaurants. Our friends like some liesure stolls but my husband and I would like one bike ride on a path if possible.

I think trying to do a day trip to Victoria on Vancouver Island would be too much with the short amount of time you have. See Vancouver and save Victoria for another trip.

The hotels you mention are all within a couple blocks of each other. Which Fairmont-the Waterfront or the Hotel Vancouver? If the Waterfront, that will have the best views--although the Pinnacle might as well depending on which floor you're on. But the Waterfront isn't quite as conveniently located for restaurants etc--but it's only a matter of a few blocks.

The Westin Bayshore would be my pick if you're seeking a leisurely environment as it's literally on the water (all others you mention are either across the street or they're several blocks away).

If 9 am is your docking time, you probably won't get off much before noon. It takes a LONG time to get everyone off those big ships in a orderly fashion. We actually went for one last swim after the ship docked, then there is the transfer to the hotel, etc etc. Don't count on being ready to see the city much before 2 pm.

What to do, what to do?! So much, and so little time. There are lots of suggestions in the "Things to Do" articles, so check those out. Also, we have some great theatre in town, so maybe prebook some tickets. Theatre Sports is a hoot, Bard on the Beach is some of North America's greatest Shakespeare in a fabulous setting and our big theatres have touring Broadway shows. See ticketmaster.ca for what's on during your stay.

I suggest a sunny weather plan and a rainy weather plan. If it's nice, do Stanley Park/Grandville Island one day, and Capilano Suspension Bridge and Grouse Mountain the other. If it's lousy weather, do the UBC Museum of Anthropology, the Maritime Museum, the Vancouver Aquarium and the Art Gallery.

Also the idea of the rainy/sunny plans sounds great. will do.

thanks again

The bike path and walking path around Stanley Park are very near the Westin Bayshore. It is a bit further away from restaurants, shopping but we are talking a 5 minute cab ride so no biggie.
