We have enjoyed Mazatlan and want to try Cancun or another area on the eastern side of Mexico. We have a several timeshare weeks and will want to exchange for something in Cancun or nearby. We enjoy the beach and like to try different restaurants so do not want all inclusive. We do not like big crowds and enjoy tours, etc. We enjoy good food but do not particularly like gourmet or the most expensive places. We will probably be traveling in October or November and would appreciate a timeshare recommendation. Thanks!

since you're wanting to do a trade .... RCI or II or ???

if II, The Royal Resorts would be a solid choice. Royal Mayan, Royal Caribbean, Royal Islander, Royal Sands, and Club International de Cancun(may still be listed as CIC or VCI). The Royal Mayan trades on RCI.

Here's a thread that tells a bit about the Royals.

You can also check on Tug (tug2.net) for recommendations.

BSQ made a great recommendation. The Royals are the best Cancun has to offer.

Definitely different from "the Royal Cancun and the Royal Playa del Carmen". Those are actually Real Resorts hotels that are all inclusives. The real Royal Resorts are interval ownership villas. In Cancun there are the Royal Sands, Royal Islander, Royal Caribbean, Royal Mayan and Club International de Cancun. In Playa del Carmen there is the Royal Haciendas. You can rent directly through the Royal Resorts website (sometimes they run specials) at RoyalResorts.com or through owners on mexicondo.com, tug2.net, omcancun.com, vrbo.com, mytimesharevacations.com, redweek.com, etc.

Thanks for making that clear, Cheryl. It confuses many, unfortunately. I think many name their hotels to capitalize on the Royals good name!

We exchange through RCI and have been pleased for the most part. We really liked the restaurants and beach in Mazatlan BUT THE WATER IS NOT BLUE!!!! Variety is the spice of life and we want to try something new to us. Thanks for the suggestions.

Traveling in October/November--lower season in Cancun. You should haveyour choice of timeshares. I own at Royal Sunset and don't have AI in my contract, but the weeks they deposit are almost all AI. So I'd say go with the other Royals if you don't want AI.

When you make your request with RCI and get options, post here and we can all help you decide.
