just wanted to give you an update on a couple of resturants that are mentioned here at the forum but that i have just recently had the chance of going to............first la tortuga...........cant say enough good things about this fair priced great service and good food that they have to offer even though its not located in the same place la tortuga offers the same quality type of food and service just as good as ever.........i do believe it makes a big difference when the owner is always present at his bussiness.........chava atttend to us personaly along with ruffino........my mother was so pleased to see chava again and be able to talk to him about the golden years.........we both had a fish dish that came with spinich a lite cream sauce and shrimp on the top........yes i now i cheated on the diet......the guac with chips was also very good.....then that darn coconut ice cream came out and was looking at me right in the face........my mother mentioned that she doesnt really care for sweets or coconut.........but she enjoy this one and ate the whole thing..........i could have pack back three orders of this ice cream but i was good and just tasted it with a couple of spoon fulls and then pushed it away........soooooo good ...........the atmosphere may not be the same but nothing to complain about the food or the personal touch of the service at the tortuga..........want a good mexican dinner for a very fair price la tortuga is going to get 5 stars from me............part two coming up.......need a coffee........lol.......zzaa

Zzaa -

So glad to know that Momma's "back home" in Acapulco once again ... hopefully for an extended stay this time :-) I can imagine how happy she must have been to sit & reminisce with Chava. Warm regards to the Senorita, from both of us.

As for La Tortuga, your latest review made me think back just a few short months ... to that wonderful night we all enjoyed there. It was one of the most enjoyable & entertaining dinners we've ever had in Acapulco - and your comments are right-on-the-money, of course.

Truth is --- I don't think it matters where Chava sets up shop, as it's Chava & his terrific staff (as well as the wonderful food they serve up) which makes this place what it is. In retrospect, I rather like the smaller, more-open, more-intimate setting which Tortuga's new location offers; and we're surely looking forward to a return-visit when we get back to the city.

Thanks, amiga, for the update. Much appreciated.

Ron

I frequent La Tortuga while I'm away. Probably 4 trips there in a 2 week period. It also helps that it's local to my hotel and they will serve a very late dinner.

People in the mood for a Torta should also consider this place.

Thanks for the info. I will definitely make note of this restaurant for my stay in August. Hopefully it is close to the Fiesta Inn hotel.

LOL you cannot get a restaurant any close to the Fiesta Inn its literally just across the street & up the side street by the office max called Lomas del mar...You will really enjoy it.
