This may be a silly question but for those of you who have gone for 2 weeks is it too long?

We are going on August 16, are booking tommorrow but I want 1 week and hubby 2. We have 3 young children, 7,4, 1.5.

I am afraid it may get boring??

thanks in advance

We always go 2 weeks with our dd and at the 7 day mark we always say, "thank god we aren't leaving yet" b/c a week isn't enough. When 2 weeks finish we feel its time to go home but we aren't bored. 10 days would be a perfect trip. I would say go for the 2 weeks.

I have only stayed a week but each visit I always wish I had another week to stay...never bored and never ready to go home.

Hi

We have never travelled with kids but I think 2 weeks allows you to take things at a much steadier pace and give you the opportunity to repeat those things you have enjoyed.

As long as there are sufficient restaurants and places to keep the kids amused I do not see why it should be a problem.

I have witness too many people who have just been at a resort for 3/4 days make a complete hash of it as they can sometimes rush at it with such abandonment that they end up comatose and ordering room service on the first night. Getting too much sun on day two as they feel ill from day one, etc

Get bored with being in DR - never, you could always spend sometime adding a fourth to the group

We go for 10 - 14 days all the time and would never consider anything less now. But we have never gone with 4 young kids.

Are you worried about the kids getting bored or yourself? And who will be the one looking after the kids or will it be both of you? I can't see the kids getting bored, I would think spending time at the beach with my parents at that age would be a blast. A lot of kids these days don't get their parents one-on-one attention for that period of time anymore. Enjoy !!!!

MOM of three as you see . YOU need more than one week. I told my husband that years ago. We always go for 10-12 days. Split up hotels to chnge it up. I would love to do that.

Where are you planning to go?

Hi there!

Once you try a vacation for 2 weeks - it's hard to go back to just one.

I think 2 weeks is a perfect amount of time to really relax and enjoy the holiday at a nice pace.

If you get a day or two of rain or feel a bit tired one night - you don't feel cheated or obligated to get out.

I say if funds and time allows - go for the 2 weeks.

Cheers

Thanks everyone,

We will be staying at the Sirenis Tropical. My husband's family will be meeting us there from the States and they got a great deal for this hotel.

We had decided on the Ocean blue but the Sirenis is much cheaper for them.

I am nervous that it will get repetitive for 2 weeks. I'm sure the kids will love it though...

Wow that is great..... Sirenis was in our top 2 but we went with Catalonia. Otherwise our three and your three would have been able to meet up. Well from one mom of 3 to another have a great trip!!! Let us know how you liked it when you return. It is on the table for next trip.

Adios

We always go for 2 weeks now. One week is just too short. We like to get familiar with the resort & amenities offered the first day or so. If it is a big resort...we want to be able to navigate it easily. Plus (as stated) if you get 1 or 2 days of rain your beach time is really shortened.

In over a dozen trips south..we've never heard a child complain to Mom/Dad that they wanted to go home! Pack some plastic beach toys. Some of the kids clubs are terrific and we know how fast kids make new friends.

After 3-4 days your will naturally fall into a 'routine' that fits your family style.

Have a fun-filled vacation. Use common sense and take some basic meds with you...anti-diarrehea, aspirin, ointment, band-aids, etc. And lots & lots of sunscreen.
