does anyone know if you can pay for excursions using a debit card?

I have heard that the exchange rate is better.

Also, are there ATM's at the resorts?

THANKS!!!!!

I don't think you can use debit for much at all.

The bavaro Princess does have an atm machine right in the lobby.

They did have an ATM in the lobby at the Bavaro, but beware, you will get your money in Peso's and not American money.

I think if your debit card is also a mastercard or visa it should work just like a credit card for booking the excursions

Hi odgamma15,

Depending what excursions you will be doing, you can pay for them in the U.S. by booking online with either Expedia,Travelocity, Orbitz and most of the travel agencies. Click on the activities for Punta Cana and they will be displayed, Pay by credit card and print the vouchers. When you get to Punta Cana call the operator and select the best time or day you wish to take the excursions, this way is better and you will not have to use your cash or credit card in the DR.

Also the prices are the same if not more in country.

Enjoy your stay and soak up the sun.

welcome to the bord,

debit cards from Master and Visa are accepted everywhere where credit cards are accepted, touragencies who sell excursions accept them all at all resorts. of course the ATM's dispense only local currency(dominican pesos) like all over the world. in case the ATM at the lobby of the bavaro princess runs out of money there's the next one located right ouside the frontgate, at the gate you turn left and walk 150 meters and you see the next one on your left. and from there the next 4 ones are located just an other 200 meters down the same direction at both sides of the 'Banco Popular" bank at the Plaza Bavaro. those public machines run often out of cash on paydays which are the 15th and 30th each month, in case that day falls on a weekend/holiday it may be possible that they do not get refilled over the weekend.

have fun

Mike
