Are people still using their Bubba Kegs when going to the bars for drinks? Don't know whether to take them or not as we don't want to be the only ones walking about with them!!! We don't want to appear to be greedy when it is actually laziness we suffer from!Tee Hee

Yes, all the lazy alcoholics can be found walking around with the Bubba kegs, pretty popular I found and makes perfect sense when the most beer you can get is a plastic cup, suppose this happens when we are used to pints. I never get the chance to sit down, by the time I'm back to my seat I've finished it.

Take your jug and enjoy!!

I got my bubba kegs , but i only saw one other person with them in the 2 weeks i was there. Didnt bother me using them, mostly for when down at the beach .We would fill our bubbas and get a drink to go, kept us goin for couple hours ;) The plastic cups at the ICD are a decent size and reusable, so not as if they go right in the bucket or left as rubbish. I will be honest though ,i didnt really feel i needed them . Depends on your hotel but at the ICD the bars where close enough to pool and beach.

we were there during spring break and yes...everybody had some type of thermal mug. mostly canadians were using the "bubba" brand. we were at breezes and the cups they used at the bar reminded me of disposable dixie bathroom cups. they were soooo small. we took both the 34 and 52 oz sizes and we did not feel self conscious at all. sunny 217: bubba kegs are a brand of thermal mugs that are shaped like a beer keg. they keep drinks cold (and i mean ice) for 12 hours. check them out at bubbakeg.com. they are imho, the only mugs to buy if you are traveling to somewhere hot. not to mention they save a lot of trips to the bar and save a lot of plastic trees. and like the above said...vacationers seem to litter quite a bit so it helps avoid trash all over the resort and beach. i have read comments on the forums from others who think they are over the top, but to each his own. i carry my bubba with pride!!!

We bought 2 - 20oz. thermal mugs (perfect size IMO)

There great for the beach..to keep my ice water cold.(yes! I did say ice water...I don't drink alcohol at all) So, don't assume...

My nephew & his girlfriend (also do not drink alcohol) were 'insulted' by an 'idiot' guest at the lobby bar in Cuba recently. They were told they were 'greed pigs...just like so and so!' Obviously the 'drunk greedy pig had to have his say.' Being, the classy kids they are...they just turned their backs to him and walked away (with their non-alcohol slushies).

Most guests wish they had bought their own mugs. And staff always asks us for them when we leave. So we give them away to staff and buy new for next trip.

Just don't get the 'honkin' big size...if your worried about being conspicuos.

Thanks for the web site for the bubba kegs. I wanted to know if the 52oz. would be concidered to be to large to carry around, if so what is the most popular size used at the resorts? Any info would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Shari

Thanks for the replies. We will take ours and fill them at the bars. As we won't need to visit the bar so often this will leave valuable bar space for others - gosh aren't we considerate!

hi shari. to each his own opinion, heres mine....i find the 20 oz size to be a bit too small. we do use the 52 oz for pop and ice, but not so much for alcohol. we also have the 34 oz size which i find perfect for mixed drinks. the only draw back to the 34 oz size is they are designed to fit in a car cup holder so the bottom is quite skinny. they get a little top heavy and tend to tip over when they are on the table. when we were in the DR LOTS of people were carrying around the 52ozers, but they get quite heavy when they are full. heres to hoping the big wigs at bubba check out these forums and design the 34 oz as a keg style. have a great holiday and show off your bubba with pride!!! (and YES, lots of people will try to be your friend so they can "take it off your hands" at the end of your vacation). like above poster said, we always leave ours for our favorite bartenders, or trade them in the markets for souveniers. cheers!

Lovethesun thanks for your reply and your opinion, and I agree with you also, the 52oz. would be the best size for us to bring. I just don't want to look greedy walking around with the 52oz. but I think the other ones would be too small. I do plan to eiter pass them on or give them to the bartenders when we leave. Great advice, thanks!

If you are drinking mixed drinks, can the bartenders mix the drinks acurately in these? Do they seem to mind? It would be nice to keep it cold, not so much to be a "pig".
